9 year old- is this alopecia?

Hi everyone 

I am looking for some advice with my 9 year olds thinning hair. 

I have attached 2 photos, I hope you are able to view them I wasn’t sure if I had done it properly. 

They are of my daughters hair on both sides, 1 side is considerably thinner. It has happened over the last 2 months and is only on that side. 

The GP said it may be traction alopecia as that is the side we always braid/she wears big hair clips in or alopecia areata. Does it look as though it could be either of those?
