I recently graduated from college and will be soon entering the corporate world.
I had my first bald spot at 14 and didn't think much of it since it was hidden and grew back quickly. 10 years later, I currently have two bald spots, one small and one quite large. I have tried cortisone injections without much luck. Being diagnosed with AA has been hard for me at times, mostly because I have no control and no idea if I will develop more spots or if they will just grow back. Currently I can hide my spots easily with my hair down or a low pony but I miss the freedom of high ponytails and swimming/biking/doing yoga without having a friend on "spot watch". Sometimes I feel silly getting upset about it since I know my alopecia could be much worse. I haven't met any other alopecians so I'm glad I stumbled across this site. ;-)
Hi Jacalyn
I'm happy that you found this site. Where about in Canada are you from? There are a lot of "alopecians" here from all over but this site has the most canadians I've seen, maybe someone here lives right around the corner!! You are not alone, keep your chin up! :)
Hi Jacalyn, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Cheryl, co-founder

Hi Jacalyn,
So glad you're here! I've had aa for about 30 years and au for 20. I miss high ponytails, too!
Just thought I would drop by and see how you are today!
