Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I've had alopecia areata for two years, it started right after my husband had a serious illness (thankfully, he's healthy now). I work from home as a medical transcriber. I'm mom to three grown boys and grandma to six. I have three cats and a dog. My oldest cat is my baby, he's 19 this year! I love to knit and I spin my own yarn. Right now I'm spinning coyote fur for a friend. I always have several projects on the go. Most important in my life is my relationship with Jehovah and Jesus Christ, who help me cope with my AA from day to day.

Ok, one of THOSE days . .

I work Friday through Monday, week in, week out, and I've done this for 12 years. So Tuesday is my housework/shopping/errands day. It's a busy, busy day. We also have a Bible study at 7 p.m., so I need to be done with my stuff and have dinner fixed, clothes ready, etc, you get the picture. So this last Tuesday I was planning on a secret trip to the yarn store (my personal drug of choice being YARN), but I had promised to burn a CD for a friend . . . well, my desk is a real sight to see, two comp… Continue

The Alopecia Ken

I found this site, it gave me a chuckle, but it also had some great messages underneath the humor. There's also a link that taught me a new way to tie my bandana! cool! http://www.alopeciaboy.net/KenDoll.html

I wish I could be so brave . . .

I'm looking at those of you who are able to go bare-headed and without wigs or scarves/hats! You're amazing! Were you always able to do it? I'm finding there are so many things I used to do/want to do that I can't with my wigs . . . ride rollercoasters, bike . . . . and I'd like to buy a little scooter since gas is so outrageous! Hubby and I were discussing getting a little scooter for errands here in town but I thought, how would I do that? You gotta wear a helmet. What? Bring the wig and go ch… Continue

I'm sorry about your tooth and so close to you trip!! I hope you'll be able to eat all that fatening NY food still. I'm trying to get to CDA on October 17th. Who knows if it will actually work out. I need new hair bad though... I'm starting to look like Barbie after a 4 year old got hold of her! My wig is in I havent been able to get over there. I hope you have a really great trip to NY. Be safe!

When I go to pick up my wig in CDA maybe we could get together for lunch if it's not too far for you. My mom or my sister-in-law would be with me too.

We are going to take a bus/walking tour and have decided to go to Stomp. The wild (or crazy) one's in our group want to go do the polar bear plunge out at Coney Island. I doubt I'd stick even one toe in 33 degree water. Oh, and we have decided to go on a rickshaw in Central Park instead of the horse carrage. It's going to be an exausting trip I'm sure but worth it. I'll need to take time off to recover from my vacation!

I'm getting excited too. We booked flights and hotel rooms back in January. I can't believe how fast the year has gone! We have so many things we want to do and I don't think we can get it all in. I'm a little scared about New Year's Eve but my husband has gone before and so has one of the other people we are going with. Have you been to NY before?

Hi! I found the shop this weekend. Really nice people! They actually can order my wig in but I found another really cute one that flips up on the bottom that I'm gonna order in about a month for our NY trip at the end of December. Well, that is the plan for now anyway. Thank you so much for helping me find a shop closer than Boise! I'll miss them but it's just too far away.

Thanks! I think we are going over in a couple of weeks. I called them and they don't order Revlon wigs but maybe I will find something different. We'll see. I may have to go back to Boise. Who knows.

Congrats on finis of the blanket! Have you been on ravelry? I love it! It feels a whole lot better when I say I'm "knitting backwards today," or "I'm tinking." Tink = knit backwards. Totally giving up and ripping out: Frogging = rippit, rippit, rippit!

Hey, good to hear from you. Like you, I have been busy. I worked last night and for a Friday night it was fairly uneventful in the ER. I hope the rest of the weekend goes as well. I am suppose to be off tonight and tomorrow, but am suppose to work on Monday night.

On another subject, I was about 20 rows from completing my baby afghan and a hole appeared at about the 1/2 way point. I tried to repair it w/o unraveling the whole thing, but no...... Anyway, I did unravel back to the 1/2 way point and have reknitted (which I realize is not a word, lol) back to where I was before. I would have been finished long ago, but as I said I have been busy. I hope to complete it this weekend and then all I have to do is weave the ribbon the the holes along the edge. I'm using the basic dishcloth pattern to make it out of using 6 balls of yarn. I knit out 3 and in 3 and it's done, normally a very easy pattern that you can do w/ your eyes closed (until you have to unknit and reknit). Oh well, life goes on.

Until next time.
