Let's see. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata at the age of 12 but wasn't truly affected by the symptoms until 2005 - the year I went into totalis. Since then, my head has been beautifully bald, tightly weaved (when hair regrows), or wonderfully wrapped.
I love other Alopecians just because they're beautiful. There is a part of me that yearns to be just as beautiful as they are. There is one lady in particular who has made the awareness of Alopecia Areata her life. I have been watching her from afar and admire how she has embraced her true self. In fact, she is mentoring me and doesn't even know it. I am striving for that same awareness in my life and prayerfully someone else will benefit from admiring me from afar as well.
