Profile

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
My 6 year old daughter developed Aleopica about a year ago. She is a very happy and well adjusted gal who has embraced her aleopica. She started Kindergarten this fall with hair and by December she got her first wig. She loves her wig, but is just as happy to go naked if I let her. My daughter is my rock and she keeps my sanity. I feel like I am the one who lost my hair some days and I have remember that this is her life and she needs to learn to live with it. She does hope for the return of her hair one day. In the mean time, Samantha is learning to read in 3 languages, figure skating and swimming are her two favorite sports and she loves singing and dancing to Hannah Montana. She also loves to have pen pals if there are any moms out there looking for a pen pal for their child.
Are you 18 or older?

thanks Cindy,

You know Niyah is so used to my look changing that it is almost natural. She will sit and talk to me while i am doing it like nothing is going on LOL... Well Niyah goes back to school on August 25th and she is not ready to stop vacationing yet. I am so happy to hear that sam is reacting to treatments. Well make sure you show me the pics when she gets her hair done.

Hi Cindy,

How are you and Sam doing? We are good just getting ready to go back to schoool.. Niyah is so excited. Is sam ready? So how has the summer been? Is sam still showing signs of regrowth. Well as you can see I did something different and bold with my hair and people seem to like it.

Hey Cindy!

I finally got your message about the swim party for Samantha, and I have to tell you that denying her the chance to go just because you don't want anyone to see her bald head just reinforces to her (even though it is not verbalized) that there is something wrong with her and the way she looks. You mentioned that you believe her classmates know that she wears wigs. If they have accepted her for this length of time with wigs, then they may accept her without them as well. I think this would also be a good opportunity when school starts to have that talk in front of the class about AA. The more people we educate, the more we create an accepting environment for everyone. I hope you let her go to the party. Please email me at sxyscorpio901@gmail.com and let me know how it goes.

Cindy - Is the juice available at health food stores? Is it all in one (biotin & aloe vera) juice? I am willing to try anything that is not painful. Sam can email Alicia at ajworkman@windstream.net. She is looking forward to emailing with her!

Alicia is only using Clobetasol solution (topical) on her spots. It helps us feel like we are doing something to help the hair grow back, but I am not sure if it helps or not. I can always tell the difference between hair returning on its own and the smaller spots of hair that the Clobetasol tends to grow! Alicia would love to have Samantha as a pen pal. Alicia has her own e-mail address, so maybe they could be e-mail pen pals?!

Thanks for the update, please let me know how it goes, these are questions that I had over the last 7 months but I really did'nt have anyone to communicate with. My daughter takes a biotin pill, where did you find biotin juice and the aloe vera juice, was there a certain brand and dosage she is taking.

Cindy,
My daughter has been receiving injections and phototherapy, we have decided to take a break from the phototherapy, I have heard about the kids club however was not sure about ordering their pieces because I heard they want you to shave your hair so the adhesive would stay down which I thought would be kind of difficult especially when the doctor is wanting to see what hair has grown in, what has been your experience. Oh and when you mention that Samantha's has has grown in has it been fuzz or really thin or more fuller in this area.

well i understand where you are coming from that is how i felt but now i just am KINDA KINDA getting use to not having hair but its ok

but i LOVE hair club so much and the best is that it was all free and what they do is use an adhesvie so it stays on for 6weeks then you go get it redone but there so light weight and im so much happier now that i have them and everything they do is free you cant beat that
