About Me:
Hi I'm Jill. I have had alopecia since I was 9 yrs old and now I am 19. I have gone through alot of ups and downs with this disease. I really just want someone to talk to who understands my situation and who understands what I'm going through and how I'm feeling. My family is great and tries to talk to me and understand, but i think it would be great to find someone who is in my same position and has had my same feelings. My alopecia has just started to get worse again and I am feeling less and less like myself these days and more more self consious. So i would love to talk and connect with anyone who is or has felt the same way.
Are you 18 or older?
Yes

Hi Jill!
I'm sorry that your alopecia has come back again. So has mine. I have never bought a wig before, but what I did get was a partial hair piece. It's like a miniature wig that clips into your existing hair. I have mine on in some of the pictures on my page. I think it's great. I don't wear it all the time becuase i'm pretty comfortable around my friends and family. I usually wear hats and headbands in public, but sometimes if I feel like dressing up I put her on and she works great! It matches my hair color perfectly and honestly, no one can tell. It's really cool. I also have a huge hat collection so i always wear hats and big earings and wear make up to feel more confident. My boyfriend is amaaazing. I honestly don't think he cares one bit about my alopecia (except for the fact that it makes me sad). I still sometimes feel like it might make me less attractive to him, but he always tells me that he doesn't care and no matter what happens he'll always love me. ( abit cheesy i know but it's very comforting) He says that the reason he loves me is because of who i am and not becuase i have good hair or becuase of what i look like. Sometimes i think he's a robot because he always says the right thing...but i'm glad to have him. I didn't tell him until I had it, and i was so scared to tell him becuase i thought that he would dump me right away. But he was so supportive. And now it's so much easier this time because he already knows what it is and what can happen and he's fine with it and great to talk to. I think that it's really wonderful that you told your boyfriend. I know it's so hard. But honesty is definitely an important part of a relationship. And in the end, it truly is people's personalities that matter. We all get old and saggy one day...right? If he looks at you differently, that's not your fault at all; it only means that he has more to learn about what matters in life. But my advice to you is just keep being yourself and keep doing all the things you love! Because I'm sure what he loves most it YOU! So keep being that. Do what ever you have to do to make yourself feel beautiful and confident and most of all..keep telling yourself that you LOOOOOVEE yourself becuase thats very important too:) Okay Jill! It was nice to hear from you. Good luck! Keep your head up.
Love Zoe

Hi Jill
Sorry its took so long to get back ive been so busy with the wedding!!!
I know how hard it can be to lose your hair im au, You say you are 19 that for me was probably the hardest time to have to live with this because this is the time when you should be going partying meeting boys, everything most 19 year olds do, I never let it stop me though i was up front about my alopecia i personally think its the best way to be or else you would be constantly trying to cover up a part of you.
How long have you been with your boyfriend for?
Is your hair that noticiable that you need to wear wigs?
It is quite weird at first wearing a wig but i promise you you will learn to love them i love changing my hair all the time
E mail me if you feel like chatting xx
