About Me:: I'm 18, from Southern Illinois, I have alopecia, and have all of my life. I also have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Hypoglycemia, Excema, Psoriasis, & Raynodes. I just graduated from AJ, I now go to school at Southern Illinois University (SIU) where i am majoring in Business Management. I live with one of my best friends Chelsea. I love to: hunt, fish (pretty much anything outdoors) play volleyball, read & hang with my friends and awesome boyfriend =). I have to go back to my high school for the homecoming coronation of the new king & queen to give up my crown to one of my friends. And as I'm dusting off my tiara from last year, I'm thinking....bald chicks get the shitty end of the deal with tiaras. Whether it be for a pageant, for coronation, or for a wedding veil, tiaras are not made with the bald chick in mind. Which I guess makes sense considering only 2% of us are alopecians, and an even smaller percentage bald chicks...let along open… Continue

The answer is quite simple really...

There are many of us alopecians who chose to go without wigs everyday, but yet there are many who feel more comfortable wearing a wig. For those that are wig-free, you can most likely relate to this. Walking around bald, you get stares. You of course expect some, but then there are those that you think, oh really, come on! You know, the 'stare at you the entire time you are in their line of sight' stares. Those are just over the top...and not to mention rude. I don't know if they are expecting… Continue

No more hair

No more hair for me, yay! I have given up on the whole wig thing...they annoy me. & I love going without. Thats all i had to say. YAY! =)

I was wondering were you told you had the ophiasis pattern? I had the same type of loss as you I kept hair on top and lost the rim of my head starting by the side and wrapping around my head to the other side.
