I'm going on a class trip to the 4 corners for two weeks - I'l talk to you all again in June!
I'm a respiratory therapy student and just developed alopecia over the past few months. I'm a very mellow, family oriented guy but it's been surprisingly difficult for me to deal with my hair loss - I'm looking for strength from other people who have gone through the same thing.
I feel as if I should just be able to get beyond this but I dwell on it. I have bare spots all over the back and sides of my head and a couple small ones developing on the front. In a way I just wish it would all fall out but that seems like a pretty petty thought. I really don't know what to think.
I don't think it's petty to wish your hair would all fall out. Sometimes I feel exactly the same way. I feel like it would be easier to accept the baldness than the patchy losses.
Put on your Nikes and "Just do it" LOL. From what I can see you have the dome for it. Actually it is quite comfortable and once you get used to it you can shave rather quickly everyday. Try a 3 or 4 blade razor though and use a cream with aloe in it. I have tried all combinations and of creams and razors and found that combination to the best. I still nick myself from time to time but only on one of my scars or if i hurry when shaving. Lastbut not least ya need a set of shades, leather jacket, black t-shirt and an attitude LMAO.
Hello Ever welcome!!!!!!!!!!!! Hair is overrated LOL. I cant say I know what its like to start with a full head of hair and then have it go spotty. I do know what its like to have eyebrows and then have one half missing though. I did have spots in my 2 o'clock shadow I get everyday but they filled back in and then fell back out and then filled back in. I lost my goatee due to the same problems. I just shave it all now. I would never grow my hair back even if I could.... Hope your day is going well.
Welcome to Alopecia World.
Alopecia can be a very traumatic disease esspeically in the begining and depending on its course of action.
We can all help and support one another and with time it will get easier.

PS How long have you been going to your RT program?
Thank's for the add and comment, I read you story! It took a total of 3 months for all my hair to fall out and those were the worst months in my life! My hair does grow back thin and then falls out! It is a pretty weird disease! I was out in the dark a week ago and then I found out about this website and feel like I fit in now! There are alot of positive people on this website! Until this year I haven't went crazy yet, just trying to accept it! Well stay strong and keep in touch!
