Hi, I am a 52 year-old single mom. AA for 3 years on and off and then AU for over 7 years after a terribly traumatic year ending with a 3-month illness.
I am struggling to find where my feminine side has been hiding since I lost my hair. This society has drummed into people's minds that physical beauty reigns supreme. That without that - you are nothing. What a terrible message to send to our children!
To go out into the dating world again, at this age and in the "condition" (my word) that I am in is frightening to me. The thought of being rejected or being hurt or insulted for something that I have no control over is just horrible. Does anyone else share that struggle?
Are you 18 or older?
Yes

I am another grandma, aged 55. My ex left for his younger, long-haired secretary about a year after he "ordered" me to grow hair. What an insensitive jerk! Anyway, I dated an old friend for awhile who was also bald, naturally, and that helped me get my confidence back to date others (he lives too far away and gas went up in price...so we rarely see each other now). So, anyway, my suggestion is to hang out with friends who already love you. Go out and have fun lunches, movies, anything with these friends. Go to group parties with these friends as support. Give it until Christmas, and see if your confidence has changed a bit!

Angell, Sorry for not getting back to you sooner...Amy's presence is in the $1000-$2000 range....depending on what you get (color/ length/ human hair/ cyberhair)
Tons of options...I love them, and sorry for the misunderstanding!
If you are closer to another city, please let me know I can get you in touch with other retailers.
Your best bet is going to be to call for a price quote!
Again, thanks for the questions. If you have any questions regarding the Amy's line I would be happy to help. I really like them, super comfortable and easy!
a freedom wig is not a wig, its a prosthesis. It is molded to your head and is suctioned to your head. If you tug on the prosthesis, it wll not come off unless u create an air pocket with your finger. you should google "freedom hair"
Hi Angel! I so agree withyour comment about trying to find our feminine side once again! I can honestly share your feelings about dating with this condition for I was an older single mom for over 15 years.
Thanks goodness this website has come along!
You can feel feminine even with hair loss - just focus on your best assets; update your makeup or try some new accessories; treat yourself to a professional manicure & pedicure; try out some new headgear.
Hi Angell,
Glad to hear that someone else here is from NJ. I'm in Norther NJ. Where are you? I've had alopecia for 36 years. It sucks but I live with it. Hopefully we'll get a chance to talk sometime.
Barbara
