Hi, I'm Amy. I'm 39 years old and live in Worcester, MA with my husband JJ and our two little boys (ages 4 & 2). Although I've dealt with small bald spots since the age of 16, that would quickly grow back, I was officially diagnosed with AA from a biopsy in January 08. Within two months of that I'd pretty much lost it all. I'm here to find support from others who understand. I would also love to get some folks in the New England area interested in some BGDL events (as Thea says...we are all hiding in plain site :-). I attended a BGDL event in CT recently and it was truly a life changing experience for me...I even had the guts to finally shave off those final strands of hair that I was desperately holding on to. I contribute that courageous moment to the many beautiful and supportive women whom I met there. It was nice to finally feel empowered again. I look forward to meeting more people on this site and sharing our journeys together.
Are you 18 or older?
Yes
Just wanted to share an article I did regarding my Alopecia (also in support of BGDL coming to my city) for a local Worcester, MA publication:
Hi Amy,
Your boys are adorable. I just wanted to let you know that I am planning a Boston get together in September. I would love to meet you. No final plans yet but it will definitely happen!! I've been trying to put one together for a long time but circumstances haven't allowed me to do that. But, I can't wait to meet everyone. There are 5 or 6 so far. I hope you're interested. Let me know. Nice to see another neighbor on here.
Love and Hugs,
Dotty

My "curls" are coming from China, and with the earthquake I don't know what is happening. I'll call the person I ordered from and see if the shipment is delayed or worse. It puts things in perspective, and I haven't wanted to call, in case people there were hurt.
Hi Amy..I know so many people that work at EMC..I used to work in Worcester before I decided to stop working. Samantha is being seen 3 derm later at Children's Hospital and she is currently doing squaric acid immunotherapy. It is an irritant that produces an allergic reaction in the form of a rash. We have not seen results yet, but the dr says it is too soon. We are kicking it up this week so I hope to see something soon. Sam lost all of hair between Aug and Dec for the most part. She most recently lost the rest of her brows and lashes. Do you ever take your kids to the EMC park? If you do I could meet up there sometime...Samantha wears a wig full time and we just went to hair club for men in Southboro where she will get a free human hair wig. We will get it next month. bye for now.Cindy
