If anyone has any input...please help. I am trying to get reinbursed for my hair prosthesis through United Healthcare. I already appealed it...sent them a bunch of paperwork...and they denied it! I'm not sure what to do at this point. Should I try to get a letter from my doctor saying I need a scalp prosthesis, not a wig? What else can I do? I cant beleive this crap!! Its bad enough we have to go through this...and they have the NERVE to say that this is COSMETIC!!! ; ( Thanks for your help

When I see a beautiful woman that has alopecia, that keeps me going. I am newly diagnosed with AU and at this point, I just don't want it to be noticable, I want to cover it up. I'm sure someday I will accept it..and I don't look bad bald. I have seen a bunch of women here that are beautiful and it gives me hope that maybe I can look like me again. In many of your pics, I can't even tell that you have alopecia! Not that I'm saying people should hide it...but for me, right now, I need to. So if a… Continue

We must have been messaging each other at the same time. Blue Italian hair - I have never heard of that one. I'll ask the experts at Freedom and see if they have heard of it. (Jeez, why don't they just tell people the truth about he hair they are using and why it is what they suggest for their hair piece)
Good luck with your investigations :)

Libby just got her hair cut - come and check out her new wig style. I was a little freaked out because I love long hair but I think it looks great.
Tell me what you think? She's a little rocker at heart that baby of mine. I'm more the blonde innocent daughter look LOL. Oh well. :)

I have to be honest with you Lee I don't know a lot about bonded hairpieces. What I do know is that they are usually used in the mens market in NZ for male pattern thinning. I really have no idea if they work very well for full hairloss or not. What I could see for the downside is the hair becoming damaged (if you sleep in it) and it having to be maintained. The advantages are that you can sleep in it :).
Sorry - I don't know much . Talk to the places in your area and ask the questions that you need to get answered. Like, how much, what is the maintenance, how do you look after them, what are their advantages etc.
Hope that helps.
(so pleased that you are feeling more confident in front of your bf. I knew he'd be cool. But I also knew you had to feel beautiful before you did that - and of course you are beautiful with or without your hair).
Catch you again soon

Things are going well with Libby. She is in the middle of major studying as she has her end of year exams in five weeks. This is her last year at high school. Then she's off to University. She's a little stressy but doing ok I think.
How are you and your lovely boyfriend. Everything good there???
Hear from you when you get a moment.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. How are things going??

Your pictures are great. Your hairpieces look wonderful. I have a 12 year old with AU. She has had this for 3 years. I am not currently pleased w/ our hairpiece. Where do you get yours from? I like what you told Inez about a high pony tail. That is the one thing that my little girl misses so much. She wears a vacuum sealed wig with real hair, but I just dont like this one. It is frizzy and wavy and thin. It was about $2600.00! Tell me more about your hair pieces!

I'll keep you posted on what does on with this head, hehe
Take care
