- I've help Manage the AASC site for the last five years and I wanted to come here and not have the responsibilities I have there. I just want to be me and talk about what's important to me without second guessing my responsibilities.
I don't have alopecia my 17 year old daughter does and has had since she was 12. It's been an incredibly enriching journey and even though somedays I could have run away screaming I'm happy with how our lifes have and are going.
I help people in NZ with freedom wigs. I love this option for my daughter and if I can help I'm happy to do so. My daughter is in the photo's here wearing her freedom wigs.
My experience with alopecia all though trying has been very positive. I have been fortunate to meet and be introduced to some pretty wonderful souls in this world.
I also have a gorgeous son who is 13 years old who does not have alopecia. They both have a wonderful Dad who we all love to pieces.

What a wig cut can do??? Wow :)
Yesterday was a bit of a stress fest at my house. Libby decided that she wanted to get one of her long wigs cut short. She had been thinking about doing this for a month or so. I was like ok, I can deal with this but wanted to see what she was after. I find it such a knife edge with teenagers and decisions relating to alopecia. She wanted her hair really short. Feeling less than - :(
I was talking to my lovely daughter today (as I am want to do) and alopecia came up and what she said made me feel so sad. She is very evolved in most ways but I think we still have a ways to go. She wears a wig and loves it. But as I'm very aware that doesn't make the fact that she has alopecia go away. I actually live in the city of Chino, County of San Bernardino also called the Inland Empire it's about 50miles east of Los Angeles, the burbs. It's a nice place within aprox. an hour or less from Mount Baldy Ski Resort, Big Bear Lake, Orange county beaches and about 4 hrs from Vegas. We spend most of our time at church and some of the local lakes, my husband loves to fish I just like being out there.
