Hi Liliana, sorry for not replying sooner, I was on vacation, which was great.
I contacted a support group here in BC, but they were taking the summer off, so Alopecia World has served well for supportive people. Like yourself! :)
Thanks for checking in. How are you doing now?

Thanks for asking. Mine is doing the same thing. I even cancelled my dermatology appt today, because nothing is changing. I'll just keep riding this roller coaster.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I have tried several treatments including the injections, Olux, and two different acne meds to agitate the hair enough to make it grow...I know... sounds strange. I took four months, but where the injections were done is growing back. The Dr. wants to do all of my hairless areas. I'm not so sure... no one can see my spots and those shots were awful.

Hi Liliana

Hope you had a good weekend. To answer your questions, some people do recover from alopecia however it could come back at any time too so I suppose you never really do recover, sorry. I don't have much experience with extensions but I spoke to someone who has and they swear it has done a lot of good, don't be afraid to pick up a wig or even just wear a bandana. I guess I'm more into the accepting yourself as you are type rather than hiding yourself from the world but everyone has their own comfort levels. It took me a long time to accept myself and my alopecia.

I have met a number of people through alopecia world and they have all been terrific! I strongly encourage you to meet other people with alopecia, it's more helpful than you may think. Bald Girls Do Lunch wants to set something up in Toronto and there is a workshop at a salon somewhere around Toronto too (the event is actually listed on this website). Support groups are far and few between but if you ever feel like making it out to Guelph you are more than welcome to come to my group. I haven't heard of a tricologist either but I seriously doubt you should waste your time and money, he won't be able to tell you any more than the dermatologist will or offer you a cure. I can't stop you from seeing him, go see what he has to say but 30 years of experience tells me it's just not worth it. If you need live support and can't find it though I can give you a phone number of a telephone support contact in Toronto through the NAAF. Let me know. Keep your chin up! :)

Hi Liliana
If you would ever like to ask me about anything, feel free. I understand what you are going through. Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Hey Liliana. Your AA story sounds so much like mine. It stinks for both of us to be going through this, but it's great for me to know someone else that's hair is doing the same thing.

Is your hair still falling out while spots are growing in?

I'll definately keep in touch. Brandy

Hey Liliana. I joined this group after reading a post you left. Your hair story, for lack of knowing what to call it, sounds like mine. I have several bald patches and almost no hair from ear to ear and down my head. One of my patches (the first) is beginning to grow back, but right beside it more hair is falling out. My hair is thinning in the front and a couple of other areas. I've only had AA since March. I'd like to hear others' stories like these. I wonder and would like to know others that had the same sort of progress and how it turned out. I'm just glad to read about someone else who has a story like mine. Brandy
