I'm 20 years old. I've had alopecia since I've been 16. I shaved my head in May 2005 and it hasn't grown back since. I go through stages of having eyebrows and then none. I'm a student at The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. I want to be a speech-language pathologist. I have one more year and then I go for my masters. I'm an active person. I work out vigorously every day for at least an hour (more usually). On March 1, 2008 I entered a beauty pageant and won. My platform is Alopecia Awareness. I hope to be the first Bald Miss New York. As far as I know I am the only one who has entered and won a pageant from the Miss America Organization. I can't wait to spread the word of alopecia to everyone even more so than what has already been done!
Are you 18 or older?
Yes
I won!

you are an inspiration.. may i ask if that is a bonded wig, how does it fit on and what is it as it is SO PRETTY and you cant even tell its a wig.. I am scared to get something and one day maybe I will overcome the anxiety and do it, being on here and seeing all the strong and beautiful women makes me more determined to fight this.
Your pictures make me remember that even though we have alopecia...we are still beautiful. Your hair is great! Do you mind if I ask what you are wearing?
I showed my daughter your pictures. You are so beautiful. She is 12 and had had AU for 3 years. She just started experiencing some anxiety, but after viewing your page, I noticed a big change in her. Thank you so much for being such an inspiration. I have put in a friend request also. My daughter, Emma will probably do the same. Thank you again. Have a great day,
Terri
