I've had Alopecia in one form or another since I was 8 years old.
I'm originally from rural Pennsylvania and I grew up on a farm. Back when I first developed Alopecia, the internet was not available to answer my family's questions and concerns and not many doctors knew what it was or how to treat it. I wore a wig until I was 25 and finally, with the help of some amazingly supportive friends, I made the leap to go public with my baldness. It's been both terrifying and extremely liberating. I'm so glad I'm finally free of my dependence on wigs. Now I only wear them occasionally as a fashion accessory.
Currently I accept myself for who I am and I've found a wonderful guy who loves me for me. We live in the suburbs of Minneapolis and we're expecting our first born in August. Wish us luck!
I love your photos and congrats on the pregnancy and all. Is this your first? I have three daughters! I loved being pregers, enjoy it while it lasts! I'm sure you'll be an excellent mom! :)
Pregnant bald women are so lovely. You are beautiful.
My bald wife was also beautiful when she was pregnant.
In fact she was beautiful before, during, and after her pregnancy! Love those fine bald ladies!
Hey Liz, greetings from another Minneapolitan! I live in south Minneapolis and head up the local support group. Do you want to be on our email list? I liked your description of "terrifying and liberating" at the same time. So true. I choose to wear hair most of the time except at home when I usually wear Buffs or scarves. All my neighbors know because I don't wear hair outside doing yardwork(buff or hat). So freeing after the initial telling! Take care, Heidi ...
