New here

Hi everyone. My name is Sheri and my little girl Destiny was diagnosed with alopecia at age 1. She will be 3 in June. Her dermatologist hasn't really aggressively treated her alopecia. We've just pretty much tried a topical steroid with no results. Her hair started falling out in Oct of 2006 and was completely gone by that Christmas. It came back in almost completely from april- sept. and started falling out again this past september. She's had no new regrowth yet where she's lost this time. I'm looking forward to meeting other moms. Big Hugs!

The cycle of loss and regrowth youjust described sounds just like what ella has been through (except it started at age 2 for her). So far, the increase in sunshine has seemed to coincide w/ella's regrowth...and i'm hoping i see that again this summer. We also have only dabbled w/topical steroid and no other treatment. it hasn't seemed to helped her much. Sorry to hear that Destiny hasn't had regrowth this time around!

I've been hoping that the increase in sunshine would help Desi this time around, but I haven't notice anything so far. She has almost no hair right down the middle of her little head. It kind of looks like a reverse mohawk :) The hair on the sides is growing really well though and i'm starting to be able to pull it up and put it in barettes enough to cover it a little. She has never had an entire head of hair since her first spot. We have tried all of the topical steroids and creams, and am now on our way for a consult in pheonix, az.
