Changing our world one head at a time!

My mother is very French, and when she does speak English, that's how she pronounces "eyebrows".

I lost all my hair a few years back. A couple of months after the hair on my head fell out, all my eyelashes and eyebrows fell out (this took probably two days). I have to say that I never had any slow loss (aside from having AA for years)-- it was all very swift and sudden. My eyebrows did grow back about 3 years ago, which is great by me.

The problem now, though, is this:

(sorry bout the shiny photo, I'd just gotten back from the gym and was all sweaty)

My right eyebrow (the one on your left) seems to be receding. Alot.

My left one is fine,

What the hell do you do in this case?

When I had absolutely no eyebrows, I could draw them on, no problem. I was kind of an expert at it. I used this stuff, maybe occasionally eyebrow stencils (although after awhile I'd just freehand it and they'd look fine), and it was all good.

But now? I only have half a brow missing. The past couple of days I've been attempting to fill in the bald spot, but I don't think it looks that good:

I have to make both my brows super-dark for the powder to blend in at all with my brow hairs and I feel that they look cartoonish... I don't know. Maybe I'm being overly critical -- I tend to overscrutinize myself because even if everyone knows I have alopecia, I don't want to feel like they're staring at my half-gone or half-drawn eyebrow. Bah.

So what DO you do in this case? ANY responses would be appreciated.

Bonjour Louise,
Je trouve que c'est très bien. Tes sourcils sont très beaux!
I have the opposite problem: only half of an eyebrow..still waiting for the rest to grow.... the only solution I've found is similar to your.

I was 13 when I lost my first eyebrow,I considered shaving the other one off and drawing them both in but I couldn't bring myself to do it.I have to say the pick you showed of filling it in looks really good.can't even tell the difference in the pic you put up.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I don't have one eybrow, but I have half of another. I got my eyebrows tatooed a few months ago. The lady who did it tatooed both eyebrows. She went over the hair to make it look more even on both sides. She also did that incase it falls out one of these days. Sometimes I feel like people are starring, but maybe it's my imagination. I'm really self conscious and it really bothers me. I can tell that there is a difference in both eyebrows. I do think my half eyebrow is going to fall out eventually. I think it's just taking forever. My hairloss is a slow process, which makes it even more frustrating. Did you try drawing over the hair? Sometimes that helps blend it in with the other eyebrow.

When my eyebrows started to fall, I knew they were all gonna fall out sooner or later, so I plucked them out, and got them tattoed. I don't know if I did the right thing or not but I thought it looked better than half real, half penciled in. I'm happy with my tattoed eyebrows now :-)

Question: So how long did you go without your eyebrows and lashes, before they came back? I lost all of mine 2 years ago and am still waiting!

Jennifer - Mine were gone for two or three years, I don't quite remember. Close to two and a half. With the nature of alopecia, though, you never know if they're gonna grow back. Some people never get them back.

I had my eyebrows tattoed by a gal in Toronto who does the "feathering "technique----I am pleased with the look. This way I don't have to worry about scratching my eyebrows or swimming, etc. My eyelashes have grown back---but they are white!!! Wierd!!!
