Hi Penny,
Thanks for adding me. I know how you feel. It's a very 'powerless' time. In March I finally shaved my head. It was time. I'm having a hard time with the eyebrow/eyelash thing. It's great to get tips from everyone on the site. I know you'll feel better as you meet and talk with more fellow sufferers. Take care!
I would like to be here for you too, I first though losing my hair would make me lose my identity as a woman, but being here makes me realise that I have the power to redefine those expectations.
I'm not there yet but it is a walk to remember :) Thanks for reaching out to me at such a shit point in time. xxxxx

Hi Penny, How is it going? What's happening to your hair now? I am happy to talk to you any time. Thanks for the friend request. I hope this day is a good one for you! :) Stephanie
I know how you feel... it is scary! But give yourself some time to adjust- you will find you have some good days and bad days. IT WILL GET BETTER! There is a list of blood work my doctor suggests for anyone with AA -- so be sure to rule out other causes... I will get that list together for you- might be a good idea to take it to your doctor. Has your thyroid function be tested?
I've had AA on and off for 20 years now. UGH ... and I still have my good and bad days too -- you are so new to this so don't be hard on yourself. You WILL get through it and find a way to cope. I remember when I had my first spot -- I cried every day! And even had nightmares! I thought- well life as I know it is over... things like "guess I can't never ride in a boat again, convertible (wig falling off!) ... guess no one will ever find me attractive/love me ... etc. so I DO know what you are going through.
I support group might be a great thing for you- I know there are several locations in CA. Check out the www.naaf.org site for locations and contact info.
Hiya Penny, how's you? Don't let the hair thing get to you... after all, it's only dead cells hanging off you. Just like being married, really :) (only kidding! - but some people don't need hair to be good-looking... do we??) xxx, and that!
Thanks for the friend invite! :) I see from your profile you are hoping to find some answers for your hair loss-- have you seen the doctor yet? Are you having generalized thinning or losing it patches?
Sorry you are dealing with this- but you are among people who certainly can understand!!
Hi Penny. Sorry you seemed to be having a tough day. I know getting through can be difficult. Send me a message whenever you need someone to talk to. I get updates on my phone so I can usually get right back to you!
Penny: Thank you for adding me as a friend. I'm not on alopecia world too often, but check my e-mail regularly. Feel free to e-mail me at deeann@cdrsports.com if you have any questions. I know this time is very confusing right now. Let me know if I can help. - Deeann
