Hello everyone.  I have had mild to severe cases of AA on and off since 1984, I was 13.  For the last four years I have been AU.   I know the longer you are AU the less chances there are for regrowth.

You can see my fantastic tattooed eyebrows I posted to AW.  I am very content with my AU.  I don't want to get too excited...........but......

...the reason I am writing today is I am starting to experience some rather strong regrowth on my head, eyebrows, and beard.  At this time it is rather sporadic but I am confident it will come in more as the months go on.  Just having the feeling of hair on my body is very strange, but a nice sensation. My question to anyone who has AU....if the hair does continue to come it, will the unhealthy white hair change to my original dark brown?

Will it stay white?

Thanks,

Craig

The white hairs are stronger, and may be the only ones you get. I have had only these on my head for over 15 years, but my eyelashes and eyebrows, and other hair, did come back brown after a semester of AU. I have accepted that my head hair will never regrow.

Regrowth is good. The white hair isn't unhealthy, it just lacks pigment.

I've been going through the same phase for quite awhile now...

As the saying goes. there is nothing predictable about alopecia except its unpredictability...So cliche I know...Lol

I've had the same experience as Tallgirl, my head is fairly covered with the white hairs, which I buzz off, I've let them grow but end up getting rid of them at the stage I feel I look like a little old bald man, not the look I'm going for. I still have sparse areas where there is no hair at all. I once thought that if I had normal thickness I could just grow it in and I'd have white hair, but don't think it would be thick enough to be acceptable. I don't think mine will grow back but you never know??

Thanks everyone for your comments.  Christine...I think I have the same situation.  I'll probably just shave if there is no hair color or general thickness.  I am still hopeful that it will change colors and grow thicker.
