Today I was at the salon getting my nails done by the lady who usually does my nails every time I go there. I haven't been to this particular salon in a couple of months, but one of the first things I noticed was that this lady cut off her waist-long black hair into a borderline crew cut. I thought it really made her face stand out and so I complimented her on it. She got all fluttery and was like "Thanks so much! I really like it this way too!" and was all smiles....until the woman next to me opened her big mouth and said "Or you could always get a wig or extensions. It's much more feminine and pretty than such a short hair cut." I was like WOAH mama! Oh no she didn't! The lady with the short haircut looked really insulted, and rightfully so. But before I got to open my mouth, a man who was also there getting a manicure (male-polish and all, lol) gave Mama Big Mouth a dirty look and said to the salon lady "Actually, I think you look great with short hair. Who cares what other people think, they're just jealous." HELL YEAH! If my nails weren't wet with polish I would've slapped this guy a high five. I couldn't believe that this lady had the audacity to be so rude. I should also point out that she looked like a complete slob, down to the stains on her shirt and the crust on her face... yet her hair was frosted and blown out to perfection. Honestly now, where the hell does she come off being the judge of what's pretty and what's not? I wish a mirror would've falled from the sky and slapped her in the face. It takes more than blown out hair to be beautiful...Especially with a personality like hers. I just had to share that story with you guys because of that guy's response. It made me happy to hear that not all people are insensitive jerks who think that beauty only comes in one type of package.

In the mean time....I'm going wig shopping this week! My hair's still falling out in fist fulls every night and I'm sick to death of dealing with it, so I'm taking matters into my own hands. I'm not sure if I want to go red or stick with blonde. I know I can get both, but I'm not sure which I'll want to stick with. Judging from my pictures, any suggestions?

Its been awhile since you have been on i'm glad you seem to be doing well, love the story ! there are many who seem to open their mouth but have nothing intelligent to say. i am glad to see the man spoke up and hopefully made that mess of a woman feel foolish. i also believe red would look great :o)

Hi A, how's you? Good tale, well told! Maybe Mrs. Slobby was doing the crusty stain look deliberately? Maybe she used to be a punk, but can't quite bring herself to go the whole way with the hair (and she was secretly jealous)? Then again... "frosted and blown out to perfection". Maybe you shoulda said something about her hair looking like a candy-floss from an amusement park? And tried to take a bite out of it :)

The Wig Dilemma.... if you've already got blonde, try the red for a change. And also, if you meet CrustyBabe again and have cause to engage in the old forehead/nose - type interface, the blood won't show up either. Looks AND practicality.... no-brainer, n'est-ce pas? :)

The Norm x

Hey Alexandra - It's been awhile. You will look stunning no matter what you do, but if I have to make a choice I'll jump on the bandwagon and say you'll be a spectacular redhead! Hope all is well with you!

Hi Alexandra...really long time since our last email exchange lol. Well Missy, as usual...I found your story to be an intersting read and actually laughed out loud while reading it. You definately sound like the kind of woman I would hang out with and have a BALL with but girl I would have given that guy a hi five and a pound, wet polish and all lol. People like that women need to be discouraged and maybe that would have done the deed however my bet is that she needed to say that in an attempt to put the nail salon down in hopes of elevating her own selfesteem for her own insecurities. I feel sorry for people like that and know that although we have hair issues peole like that have issues that are beyond repair.

Anyway.....on a more positive note....RED Alex.....DEFINATELY RED....lol...for your firey ways :)
