So.. after seeing multiple doctors, I think we have figured out what I have and what is causing it. I have Talogen Effluvium. I have a new shampoo and lotion to help with the itching.

Here's the bad news: Its stress related, I'm doing everything I possibly can to reduce stress (i.e. eating right, exercising, meditating, multivitamin, etc) but the stressor seems to be my husband's job. The worse news is that we are under contract for another 2 years. So I dont' know what I'm doing to do, slowly lose my hair for 2 years? I should sue my husband's work. ha ha.....

Amelia,

They say that alopecia can be triggered by stress but either way it is in my system. I have had alopecia for over 22 years now, I have grown and lost numerous times. It is impossible to relieve our lives of total stress. There will always be something, family, work, death, sickness... Eventually I had to focus my energy elsewhere. I agree with wise1, try to focus on having a fulfilling live and let your hair situation do what it will.

I agree with Cheryl. Stress exacerbates our condition, but its not the root cause (no punn intended lol). First step for me was Acceptance. Once I got over that hurdle, my life has been alot easier. I then changed my focus and just started wearing hats. Dealing with it -not resisting or fighting it. After a very tough journey of considering a wig, I am now very excited to be getting my first one in a weeks time. I looked amazing in it!! I genuinely feel its going to open so many doors for me as I will finally have my beautiful self-confidence back! And with that, a women can achieve anything!
