I sat down to take a break from some housecleaning and came across this article about penguins that either lose their feathers.

It strikes me that there are similarities to what happens in humans.

Hi Squonk,

I came across a similar story about bald penguins.

I have also heard of cats and Matt, one of the members on Alopecia World has a cat with alopecia.

Thanks for sharing!

don't see how penguins with this condition can survive in the wild. They rely on their unusually dense feathers to stay warm in the frigid waters where they hunt for their food. Without their insulation, they can't stay warm.

For penguin lovers, in case you haven't seen it, here's my short video (out of hours of video I haven't yet edited):

And, check out my husband's photos of penguins here: http://www.stevegouldphotography.com/gallery.php?galleryid=23,&..., S. Georgia, Falklands
