Hey everyone! I've had alopecia for about 10 years and have tried every thing... literally everything. I've done laser, creams, injections, shampoos, but nothing really seemed to help me. My hair fell out almost like the seasons my dad always says. The spring and summer my hair always grew in and in the winter and fall alot of my hair fell out. So, I've been using squaric acid. The acid isn't FDA approved yet, but me and my dermotolgist said its worth a shot. So between 4-5 months mostly all of my hair came back completely. My hair was all back in the summer of last year. The acid is almost like a poison ivy reaction, it basically lies to the white blood cells and gets them to move away from the hair follicule and lets the hair grow. I had alopecia areata to begin with i wasnt completely bald. I was still able to cover my hair before the acid. My hair then began to fall out agian after the summer so im on the acid agian and my hair is growing back. I really recommened this treatment if you havent tried it. If you have any questions ... let me know! :)

My dermatologist just told me that I have alopecia aerate. I thought I was loosing my hair due to the 5 yr. iud. I have used steroid topical, special shampoo&conditioner. Now I am getting 15 to 20 steroid injections every month in my scalp. Day after i have big bumps on my scalp. i also loose tons of hair. Now he wants me to come in every 3 weeks. I also just spent $70 on women's rogaine. I cry every time, I take a shower. My hands are full of short hair that just grew in. I had long dirty blond hair. My hair was passed my behind. Now it is brown, coarse, so many diff. Lengths. Plus the perfect round white bold spots.it looks like some took a razor and shaved it. I know steroids are not good for your body. What hair I have left, I can not even put it in a pony tail or berates. I know, I need to stop feeling sorry for myself. Boyfriend ,son are embarrassed of me. Makes me feel angry! Please help me with any info! Thank you so much!

For any spots u have ... U should use toppik hair fiber , u can get it online on amazon or at sallybeauty supply. I also did shots for about 7 years and I know I had the same problem. I really recommend asking ur dermo about squaric acid .. They might not even know what it is or say it isn't a great product .. But I can give u the info to my dermotoloist and they can maybe speak to you. You should use the toppik powder it really helps cover bald spots.

I spoke to my doctor about squaric acid last week but he says my hair follicles seem to be responding to less intense treatment so he doesn't want to give it a shot yet, but I am glad you're doing good!

Hi Sara - thanks for the post! It comes in perfect timing, as I am trying to find out how to acquire Squaric Acid in the US. My dermatologist mentioned it (and also DPCP), but since they are both non-FDA approved I am stuck at this point. Any tips on how to get it would be highly appreciated

Cheers,

G

Hi Sara, thanks for sharing....do you know if this is different from the DCP treatment? My derm suggested that to me as I am having slow reactions to the injections, but i am concerned about what it would do to my immune system with "tricking" the blood cells.....I am just in the information gathering stage, but was wondering if the acid is the same concept...thanks, Kathy

P.S. Toppix powder is a life saver if you are only dealing with spots......looks very natural....

It's a little different because in my opinion i think the acid is much more effective. I've tried the DCP but everyone is different. The acid doesn't harm the immune system it just gets it off the hair to let the hair grow.I remember using the DCP and it really burnt my head and i didnt go to school sometimes because my head felt on fire. It also made my hair kinda oily and gross. The acid dries really quick and within a week you feel and see it get a little red and itchy. Some people have a more severe reaction, I only had something like dandruff. Within about 3 weeks i could see hair growing in and was so excited! I hope u guys try it and really hope it works!
