Hello to all the beautiful people on alopeciaworld <3

I received a call from Joseph Paris about his products yesterday and I am pretty much convinced to buy a wig from him.
Currently, I'm buying a $2000 (Canadian) or so human hair, lace front prosthetic. They last about a year (often requiring a $500 repair) because I tend to be a little harsh on my hair (I guess lol). I'm pretty happy with it, but I hate the tape-- it tends to pull my skin so hard that it comes off, and I have open sores constantly.
He says his product will last a couple of years, and the length I'm looking for would run me about $4400 USD...which I'm thinking woujld end up as about $5000 or so Canadian, with tax.
I would have to go to NYC from Toronto (which isn't TOO far, but could require an overnight stay at a hotel... in New York), which sounds great to me, but it's also an expense.
But honestly, the most important factor in buying a wig for me, is that it looks realistic.

Anyone out there have a Joseph Paris wig? I'd love some opinions on if they're worth it.
Thank you all so much, you're all fantastic people!!

I've heard good things about Joseph Paris. I received their information in the mail, and he left me two voice mails. I decided not to do it because of the cost. I'm thinking positively this synthetic wig will do the job until my hair grows back in. Wow, $4,400 for long hair??

Hi Laura Lee, I currently have 2 joseph paris wigs. I'm very happy with them and I don't mind the tape at all. Havent had any problems with the tape causing any reactions either. So you've had open sores?? wow that has never happened to me. I'm sorry it happened to you! maybe the tape you were using was too harsh?!?! $4500 must be for very long hair. how many inches were you looking to get? feel free to ask me anything about my wigs. He quoted me $4400 because I asked for 14" (slightly longer than shoulder length), and for blonde... which he says is at a premium... maybe it's time I try being a brunette! I have the option, right?? :)
Aimee, your wig looks great-- keep thinking positively!!
Cindy- I chose the tape that I have because I feel most secure with it-- it's the stickiest one. Unfortunately when the wig comes off, the tapes comes with it too, along with my skin. It's sort of made a callous over time, but is still red. It seems like the more I change my tape (if something happens and I need to change more than once), the redness turns to sores because of the extra yanking of my skin. Maybe I'm just sensitive-skinned. What did you pay for your Joseph Paris hair? It looks FANTASTIC! Do you find they get hot? Do you need repairs-- if so, what does it cost? Thanks so much!!

Yea i think it's more difficult to find blond human hair in that length than brown hair. You def have the option to choose different colors, textures, etc. Also make sure that their regular length isn't too short for you. Mine was approximately 8" or 9" before I had it styled and it cost me $2500 which is their price for a semi custom wig. Semi custom is when they size it, customize the hair color (if you want high/low lights), and cut and style it for you. If you don't treat your wig kindly, you will def need repairs more often which they charge at $84 an hr and they do them right their in the salon. Otherwise, it should be many months before one is needed. Have only needed one repair on my older wig (which is 9 months) and I wasn't charged for it because they included it as part of my free services (you get 3 when you buy a semi custom wig from them).

The tape that i use doesn't irritate my skin at all. I don't think it's necessary to use such strong tape...you're just hurting yourself. And I feel quite secure in my wig...the wind has never moved it. Also, you might want to look into purchasing a Skin Prep product. Joseph Paris calls it Scalp Guard on his products website (hairdepot.com) but you can google it and find something similar on any hair product site usually listed as Skin Prep. It helps keep irritation down. Also do you just rip the wig off your head? You should try using 99% alcohol which deactivates the tape upon contact. Just put some alcohol on a q-tip or something and lift and wet with the q-tip at the same time. Regular alcohol wont work though. It has to be 99%. You can find that on his website too (Ultimate Tape Remover) or you can order it from a pharmacy. As to if it's hot, no matter what you ARE wearing something on your head...but it's the lightest one i've ever worn and very comfortable. Since it's a full lace wig it just sits comfortably on top your head. Let me know if you have any more questions!
