I had to deal with this in high school, but I used half-wigs and wigs to eliminate anyone's EVER seeing my bald spots. What they can't see, they can not know...only assume. So, you CAN, if you CHOOSE, just get an instant new look (or 2 or 3...), great make-up, some great shoes and clothes, put a smile on your face and confidence in your walk, invite friends over for pizza, and get into your studies, football games, hobbies, the arts, faith groups, music...and still have a fantastic high school experience. Stay away from The Stupids, get alopecia explanation brochures from www.naaf.org for teachers, counselors, friends and school principal, and just walk away from bullies. Think about collecting your college dorm stuff and credits for now. High school WILL pass. Alopecia is in the genes, so you can get a different look while waiting to see if medical advances ever solve this. Maybe you will like the new wig style even better than your own hair!

Find a friend or a meeting. Ask where the good wig salons are.

People can be such asses when it comes to Alopecia. I'm almost fifty and the people I worked around was as asinine as a grade schooler. Don't let them bother you with comments and actions focus on what is important to you. I recently had a girl look right at me and say Eww so I politly told her you know I really thought you was a very pretty girl but your attitude makes you very ugly to me. I had to snicker as her jaw dropped as she walked away with nothing else to say.
