Hello, everyone I am pretty new to this site but I do have one question if anyone can help me out.. so about a month ago I found out I had alopecia areata. I have a rather large bald top on the top front part of my head. Over the past few days I have noticed that the bald spot and the area surrounding it has become flaky with the skin just flaking off. I can take my finger nail to it and peel it off. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? it might just be two separate things happening at once or Maybe the alopecia spots and the flaking have something to do with each other?? Thanks in advance any advice would help

I have au and have noticed that my scalp is very dry and sometimes feels scaly.  I usually just put lotion or a good oil( olive oil or coconut ) on it after each shower.  It has helped me.  I really don't know about a large part of the scalp peeling off but maybe it just got too dry.   I have heard of fungal things that peel like that and you can get aromatherapy oils to rub on the scalp.
