I am new at this and actually still waiting for an appointment with the derm. My family dr. said it is alopecia. My question is...I still have a fair amount of hair (so far I have 6 round spots and thinning of the hair) and the rest of it needs dyed. I'm just wondering if it is a good idea to dye it or not. Just don't want to make it fall out any faster then it already. Thanks for any ideas :)

Will dying your hair have a positive effect? I'm thinking the same thing. I just dont know it it will help or make the spots more pronounced.
Good news is dying it will not make your alopecia process worse.

Dying your hair won't make it worse, but like Jeffrey I'm thinking it may highlight your bald spots more if it is a dark dye, maybe a lighter colour would be okay but it would depend on your skin colour really. When I lost my hair one of the things that stood out to me besides my freaking baldness was how white scalp skin is! That's why when actors wear a bald cap in a film/tv to depict cancer it never looks realistic.

I know of 2 of them. XFusion and Toppik. Pretty good products. You and also use a little DermMatch which is a solid concealer. Works good as a combo.

Thanks for the advice,it's only started falling out in June so and I waited to go to the dr untill the end of july. I did dye it because I have alot of greys (really if it's going to fall out I think the greys should have been first to go lol) The only thing I did notice when I dyed it is the edged of the circles where it's falling out when the dye got on it it stung really bad when I did it. Don't know if this is normal or not. I am hoping it won't take me to long to get into the dermatologist. I have so many questions...
