Exicting news everyone! There's a grade nine boy at MY school with Alopecia Areata!
I was in gym when my teacher pulled me aside and told me this and I thought it was so exicting! My town is really, really small (like, pop. 12,000) and I thought that I would never meet another person with Alopecia in my area, let alone in my hometown!
I was given barley information about him before we met, I didn't even know what he looked like. His name is Sharoon (I don't know how to spell it, but it's pronounced like that). My teacher told me that he is really self-consious about his alopecia and wears a hat constantly.
So, like the week after, our homeroom teahers (because we both had gym first period) set up this 'meeting' and we went out into the hall and talked.
I actually don't think he was too interested with talking to me... Either that or he just wasn't enthusiastic?
I found out that he's recently diagnosed with Alopecia Areata and that he thinks alopecia sucks.
I thought our conversation would go a little longer than 5 minuites, but oh well.

At least I'm not the only one anymore.

Hi Emily,
Give it some time. he may well come around.
I think the best thing for someone with alopecia is knowing others going through the same thing.
Wishing you the Best.

Good for you Emily! I agree with Stephanie - Let it shine - Let it shine... Keep us posted. Give him some time, am sure we can all relate to his feelings, probably the same as when we first found out. Take care
