God gave us this disease

The way I see it is that God gave us alopecia to help us learn and grow, he finds that it is necessary for us to have alopecia to learn, and he knows that we are strong enough to handle it, if we weren't strong enough he would not have given it to us. He knows who we are and knows everything that we can handle, some people may have this trial and have a hard time over coming it, others may have an easy time over coming it. EVERYONE HAS TRIALS... It is part of life, it is time that we realize…

Regrowth

I have been experiencing a great amount of regrowth lately and have come to realize that after all my praying and wishing to have hair I don't really want it. I have lived my whole life without hair and it just seems alien for me to have long hair. I realized that I actually prefer being bald to having hair. I am actually scared to have hair. The idea of no longer being bald scares me. I do not want my hair to grow back in I want to stay the same.  I mean it is exactly what a lot of us have…

Acceptance

I don't know what I am going to write but I felt inspired to write on this topic. President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's said, “Some of you may feel that you are not as attractive and beautiful and glamorous as you would like to be. Rise above any such feelings, cultivate the light you have within you, and it will shine through as a radiant expression that will be seen by others” (Ensign, May 1995, 99).

There are two paths you can take. You…

Inspirational quotes

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” Haruki Murakami

"You've got to be willing to lose everything to gain yourself." Iyanla Vanzant

"The inward journey is about finding your own fullness, something…

This quote is a really amazing peice of wisdom

Rocky: "Cause if you’re willing to go through all the battling you got to go through to get where you want to get, who’s got the right to stop you? I mean maybe some of you guys got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to someone, something… and you’re told no, even after you paid your dues? Who’s got the right to tell you that, who? Nobody! It’s your right to listen to your gut, it ain’t nobody’s right to say no after you earned the right…

Alopecia poems (I did not write these)

A poem by Brianna age 10

I have alopecia areata and it is not cancer.

When I found out I was healthy

it was the happiest answer.

I cried at first , knowing that I would have no hair.

Shortly after Christmas by head was completely bare.

No matter what I do, no matter what I say,

my hair might never grow back, all I can do is pray.

I know I look different to many of you,

But thank god for my…

The new year

Ok so I am on here today to challenge you guys (that is everyone on here) for a New Year's resolution to challenge yourself to come to accept or continue to accept this you that is missing hair.

By this I mean embrace you alopecia and not care that you don't have hair, in fact try to show who you really are and that your looks don't matter it is your personality that truly matters.

Hope that this challenge helps you to be happier and to know that you are an amazing person in…

Alopecia and my testimony

I have had Alopecia Areata since I was five or six and I turned thirteen on August twenty-ninth, twenty-thirteen. I know how hard it can be, I used to have really thick long hair, I still have pretty thick hair, that is where I actually have hair. I shaved my head at the beginning of August, through my Alopecia I have learned to just be myself and smile through the pain. I believe Alopecia is not meant to discourage and break us but to uplift and strengthen us, I know that our Heavenly…

My Utah Studies teacher

I found out the coolest thing today!!! My Utah Studies teacher Mrs. Winn used to have a form of Alopecia. She asked me about my hair today so we had a little conversation about my Alopecia and how she used to have it. I brought up Alec my Alopecia Buddy because he is in her first period class with my friend Emily (I have it eighth period) so yeah I just thought it would be fun and cool to tell you guys!!!

One of my brother's football coaches!

Ok so exactly a week ago me, my sister, my mom, my dad and one of my sisters friends went to bring my brothers football team some Peanut Butter Bars that we made. While we were there one of the coaches asked my brother does your sister have Alopecia? Of course my brother said Yes the coach then continued that's what I though because she looks to healthy to be on Chemo I though it was pretty cool and thought you guys would like to here about it.

Embrace it:

<3/Jessica…

I am not alone!

I was so excited to find out that the guy I go to school with but don't even know has Alopecia I am so excited to know that I am not the only one who has Alopecia and is going to a new school. Ok so here is what I know about him... His name is Alec, he has Alopecia and he is on the same bus as one of my best friends Emily or Jane Ere as she goes by here on alopecia world. I am so excited to talk to him about it, that is if I can get up enough nerve to do it.

T-shirts for seventh grade

Hey, its me again!!! Okay so first of all I am going to be going into seventh grade in August. Second I am seeking help on ideas or cute sayings about alopecia to put on some T-shirts me and my mom are making for school. We already have a few like " I'm to sexy for my hair that's why there is isn't any there" (Summer Hopper) and "God is good, God is fair to some he gave brains the rest he gave hair" (Erik Kern)or a totally random one "If you don't know what Alopecia is then you need to go…

Now or later

I am almost finished with sixth grade I only have five more days. The thing is I am contemplating whether or not to shave my had now or wait until August I was wondering what you guys think. I was thinking wait so I don't get a sunburn on my head but also if I waited I could get teased and made fun of behind my back, but that would be okay with me as long as they didn't do it to my face. On the other hand though, I could shave it now and risk getting it sunburnt and have hair when school…

My LDS ward

Today I attended a church meeting and one of the other members asked me to share about my alopecia. I told her I would so I told them about how our Heavenly Father can help us through our trials. After I finished one of the other girls commented on how bright and happy I always am so I encourage all of you to do the same. we can be kind and happy to those around us.
