One innovative way to participate in Alopecia Awareness Month is by joining the "30 Days, 30 Facts" campaign. This initiative involves sharing graphics that feature a different alopecia-related fact each day of the month. Here's why this campaign is so impactful:

Excerpts from an article on Metro.co.uk:

""Bald is beautiful" isn't just a motto for one Gilbert Middle School student— it's a lifestyle."
I recently came across this article on wxlt.com that I thought I would share with the community.
"Gracie Ann Roland was diagnosed with alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss from some or all areas of the body, a year ago."
"Rather than letting her…

While I continued to go about my stressful life as usual including breaking up with Jonathan (more on that in the book), I met Aaron* shortly after the New Year. During our lunch hour, I happened to sit across from him in the courtyard at WMA. We ended up chatting about surfing, yoga, and self-reflection of all things. He told me that he believed in working on oneself and growing as a person. I remember noting that I liked the way Aaron thought. It also didn’t hurt that he was lean from…
ContinueSo a friend suggested I see her dermatologist located in Santa Monica. Dr. Greene* was a pretty woman with dark, shoulder-length hair and a somber tone about her. Or maybe there was just something somber about telling someone they had alopecia areata?

Dr. Greene asked…

I went to work that fateful morning in a daze. My mind just repeated itself over and over again. “What is going on?” I had no idea where my hair had gone or why it fell out so quickly.
I didn’t see any excessive clumps of hair on my pillow. Didn’t notice any unusual large amounts in the drain after my shower. Although I did note that I had noticed more hair than usual in the drain for the last few months. But with as much hair as I had, I didn’t think anything of it until…

Except for my dad who has been receding since his 30's every one else in my family seems to have their hair. In conversation with my dermatologist last week, he said my AA is genetic. He says the gene lives and has lived within me from birth. He says it's been dormant, but something triggered it. He continued to say, that in so many people that have a genetic predispositon, AA could stay dormant their whole lives, while in others in shows up in their teens...or after episodes of stress or…

Most of you know that I am from Canada and rj is American. So when we married we started a whirlwind of immigration processes. I had to file yet another form and get another set of biometric done. One of the steps was another photo session at the immigration office.
I filled out the form and clicked “bald” as my hair color. For a second I wondered if I should have clicked black, since it was an official government form and being AA my black hair does show if I don't shave daily. I…
