About Me:
im 30 years old, have a lovely girlfriend, no kids as yet, work of in the offshore oil/gas industry BUT iv now got the dreaded alopecha ariata (sorry about the spelling). got my first parch at the side of my head around febuary then seen one on my beard, then over time theres a few more. there are 3 patches that are quite large and many small patches wich hopefully won't carry on getting bigger. my beard also has two very large patches aswel so I'm feeling pretty down about it.

i used the steroid creams for maybe 2 months which i belied slowed the patches getting bigger but yesterday i went toy the hospital and got the steroids injected, so fingers crossed. I'm not expecting too much but i live in hope. it wasn't even an actual needle they used to get th steroids into you scarp, it was kind of a tool which fires the steroid into your skin using a high pressure blast. there isn't much pain with and hurts no more than a small twang with an elastic band.

away enough about me, i would like to hear from people who have maybe only just got it or long term sufferes, the thing i hate most is the not knowing if it will ever come back.

i would maybe ever consider a hair tattoo as long as it was done by a reputable company with assurances about future fading etc..... iv never beed ill in my life but at the end of the day its only hair. things could be a lot worse!!

1 last thing... does it do anyone else head in when people notice the patches and automatically thing you must be stressed out or summit, that definitely not the case with me as I'm so layer back its unreal haha

has anyone had the hair tattoo where they tattoo the head to just make it look like your head has had a close shave? my main concern would be long term regarding discolouration etc but would appreciate and advice or information.

i started losing my hair 5 months ago, and iv now lost 40 % of my beard and i have maybe 6 patches on my head of various sizes.

i just got the steroid injections a couple of days ago to all my patches so fingers crossed it works.

its the first time iv…

hi monkey hangover,i hope your well i have been on this site for about 3 months now, like you i started with this AA in december 2011. starting with a 10 p size patch at the nape of my neck, which obviousley progressed in to larger patches and more appearing else where, then the shedding,it was that distressing my boyfriend said why dont i shave so we did.ive had blood tests apparently there normal, ive turned the treatments down because of the side affects, and theres no guarentee they will work,i dont want to mess with naure,if my hair is going to come back it will in time i hope, with a better diet, and trying to be positive.the only change for me before this was i did diet, and i suppose this could of triggered it who knows, bodys are a funny thing. mind you the docters and the dermatologist here have been absolutely useless to say. i have whiteish blondish fluffy hair virtually all over, not sure if its a good sign,i live in hope.i still have my lashes eyebrows etc,and i hope they stay,as its only been nearly 6 mths now.take care sharon :)
