- hi my name is jordan and i am 16 years old, i have had alopecia for about 3 years now. i started with alopecia areata but it did get worse and i now have alopecia which is crossed between alopecia universalis and alopecia areata i do have patches on my head and also my legs which is quite strange because i wasnt aware you could get a cross of different types of alopecias. i love art and design, going out with friends i am also obsessed with horror films and myth and legends like the slender man. i have also started to learn how to play guitar :) my favourite bands are - daft punk, pendulum, lacuna coil, and evanescence, Abney Park, puscifer :).i live in mansfield which is near nottinghamshire. Although i do wish i had a full head of hair i wouldnt let that stop me iv tried to look on the brighter side of things, my family and friends have been amazing i dont know what i would do without them. i have started to become a little more braver with my alopecia i have worn many different styled wigs in man colours, i have been long and purple, blonde with a bob, bright red with a full fringe, black and long and many other brown tones. i love to experiment with different colours :). i would love to answer any questions anyone may have :).

Santi said… - Hey Jordan!! Thanks for your comment! I did not much last weekend but... guess what? believe it or not the day before yesterday it was snowing hard over all the catalan territory!!! Even here by the coast!!!! (where hardly never snows) Then, during the night we had a strong wind storm that cleared all the clouds away and yesterday, though it was cold still, the sun was shinning bright! it was crazy!! hahahahaha!Unbelievable...
Actually I didn't get the virtual card from anywhere, I made it myself with a video editing software I have. The truth is that the final result got pretty nice, maybe you should try to get a video editor and make your own virtual card for your family and friends! It is funny and they're gonna love it for sure! I encourage you to try! :D
Hope everything's going GREAT up there in Britain!!!! I miss it a lot, I have to make it there again someday. I've been there in London working and living for a few moths ten years ago and never came back... Hope I can get back there sometime soon!

No, actually I didn't do anything special on Valentine's day either, because my girlfriend lives in Mexico and that's indeed a long distance! yeah, well, I made a video of our photos as a "virtual card" and I first sent it to her via e-mail and later in a DVD via traditional mail with some chocolates and all that stuff... aside of that nothing else.

Welcome to AW. Such a trying time for you and your family but staying in touch with people with the same challenges as you does help as does writing down how you feel.
The options for wigs are there and it may be you need to consider a petite size. Seek professional wig suppliers or surf the net. It may give you a needed lift to feel secure and happy under a wig. I lost my hair aged 17 and wore a wig for 15 years. i have stopped now but still have the choice. i treat them as accessories and if the outfit suits. You stay positive regardless. take care

I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!"
