About Me:
My name is Anna-Lisa. I was diagnosed with AU October 2011. I had my daughter in March so when I started losing my hair, I didn't think anything of it. It wasn't until I found bald spots and noticed my arm and leg hair was missing that I figured I should get it checked out. I knew what Alopecia was, so I knew what the diagnosis was going to be.
I was blessed to have a period of regrowth after my diagnosis. That lasted about six months before I found a spot on the back of my head. That spot turned into more and more.
I'm still in the process of it falling out but I have lost about 80-90% and I recently shaved my head. I actually feel really comfortable with my shaved head because I'm not trying to hide my spots anymore.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia universalis
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

I'm back

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 1:30pm 2 Comments

So it's been a long time since I've been on here, at least been active on here. I was diagnosed with AAU last October. My hair was falling out so fast I didn't think I would have any hair by December.

Around Thanksgiving I went in for a "cute boy cut" (I was tired of my son pulling hair out of his mouth everyday) and the lady who cut my hair took a number 8 razor and shaved my head! I was so not ready for that but it was actually a blessing in disguise because it forced me to face the…

Welcome to the International Alopecia Day Group! It'd be great to include a pic from Washington.

My hairloss story is pretty similiar to yours. I did have a patch in the front of my head grow back 2 months after it all fell out but within weeks it all came back out. Everyone's different so hopefully yours will stay grown back. Good luck. Let me know if I can help with any other questions to this crazy autoimmune disorder.

Hello and welcome, Aggie!
How are you doing today? I have AU, too.

Hi there. I also live in Washington, but on the other side of the mountains. I'm glad you found the site. I hope you get a lot of information from it, as well as hear from everybody. I have had AU for the past 8 years, and AA since I was 7. My hair came back in my teens, and fell out again permanently when I had my son 8 years ago. I definitely think hormones have a lot to do with it, and it sounds like this may be the case with you and your hair loss. Feel free to contact me directly if you want to chat, or if you are on this side of the hills.
