- I have had alopecia areata since I was 17 years old. I am 30 y/o now. I am married and have a wonderful/very supportive family. I work in a long term care facility in Illinois as the director of social services. I continue to struggle emotionally at times with the alopecia areata but it has made me a stronger person. I look forward to chatting with others.
