- Hi All! I'm a native New Yorker transplanted to the Atlanta area. I love it here. I've had alopecia for over 30 years...started as a child (AA) and my hair grew and fell out for the first 10 of those years. I've hard very little growth in the last 20 years and haven't had any sort of treatments or desire to do any in a long time. I feel like i've done it all. I'm happy to have found a support forum! Let's see.....i'm a married mother of 3. I'm fortunate enough to have a great balance between work (which I do from home as a research pyschologist) and having a lot of time with my kids so I feel like I have a lot to be grateful for.

Tracy said… - Valerie, I too have now been married 8 1/2 yrs and my husband has not seen me as well. I had AU but now I still have no hair on my head but everywhere else. I am 43 and have battled with this since 12 years of age wearing weaves, wigs, etc. I thought it was interesting that we both have not showen our spouses, hopefully one day I will but I am not sure it so personnal and up close huh.
