We would also like to do an International Alopecia Day Event in Detroit, but are still open to ideas. It would be great if we could plan soon and then work on some publicity.
If you have any ideas or wish to participate please feel free to share…
I am a cardiac sonographer at a medical center as well as a pediatric cardiology office. I have been bald for over 10 years now. I have a niece who is 10 years old and she has only seen pictures of me with hair. She told me not to grow my hair because she likes me bald and that I wouldn't look like myself if I had hair. I thought that was cute.

thats the funny thing about this disease, it leaves you with few options. you have no choice but to put on a positive attitude, because thats the only tool that will get you by. Which eventually all works out for your good. The thing is , like you I have total bald spots where there isn't hair, then at my crown, the hair grows sparsely and slow as compared to the rest. when my head is shaved totally bald, you can still see the difference in the areas that have hair, and those that dont.
I have heard that some people's hair just grows back full for no particular reason. I pray that will happen to me. WHile i make the best of this, I would like my own hair back.
How is the pain? Is it the same as i experience (not so much now)tenderness and sensitivity around the affected area?
