We did have a great weekend. Took the kids camping Thurs-Sunday and it was fun although cool on Sat. I had to come home Saturday night as I had to work 7-3 on Sunday and didn't want to wake up at 4am to take the long drive home from the campground. Thought I could get a good nights sleep in my own bed!! LOL. Got you email..I'll write back in a few..

Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for your kind words. I am already teaching her to be strong and proud regarding her alopecia. It helps meeting strong alopecians on this site.

Hi Elizabeth,
How are you today? Welcome to this wonderful site. My daughter has alopecia so I know how difficult it can be at times. I hope to be chatting with you soon.

Hi Elizabeth...yeah..I understand about the wig. I only wear mine to work..as soon as I get home it comes flyin' off and I wrap my head up w/a wrap. It's been so hot here and my hair (what's left) is growing and it gets itchy so I'm constantly taking my wrap off to itch or let my head "breathe" for a minute or two...We're stuck in a heatwave here so I can imagine it's really hot down by you.
Not much else going on here, getting ready to do some camping this weekend before we start work on our house..fun fun. I have alot of laundry to do and not sure how I"m going to get it done in this heat.
Your job sounds nice...I was a stay at home mom for quite sometime but then got into photography and started a small business from home..then took on a small job at the hospital here in town working at the switchboard..which I love. It's swing shift so it's been an adjustment for us all but it's only a few days a week and the paycheck helps....doesnt last long but it helps...lol!!
Hope all is going well with you...what did you decide on the tatoo?? I was thinking of getting one done of a shamrock on my head...a permanent one...but at this point would just do about anything to get my eyebrows tatooed!! LOL!!
Talk to you soon ~Brandy

Hello and welcome, Elizabeth!
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) You can find out more on my page -- and it's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf." Let me know if there's anything else I can do!
By the way, you have beautiful eyes. I am sure you heard that before!

Hi Ms. Elizabeth!! I'm Brandy, 31, married and mom to two beautiful kids..boy and girl as well..ages 9 and 11. I've had alopecia for almost 2 yrs. now and am very comfortable with it these days although I still refrain from going completely bald in public. I work irregularly at our local hospital and only wear my wigs there lately..otherwise I just buy material and make my own wraps. I, like you, find humor here w/alopecia. I went through ups and downs....and the downs were pretty bad...but I found support here and had very accepting friends and family members.
Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm stuck working a few midnights here at the hosp. and thought I'd check in here (I need to do that more often) and take a break from my work for a bit...in fact I think I finished all my work anyway and would prefer to type then read a book and risk making myself more tired then I already am!!
Bye for now! Brandy
