Hi Everyone. Has anyone tried Methotrexate for AU? I have been on DPCP for almost a year and had no real success. This is something new with an apparent 50-50 chance for AU.Continue

Raise your hand if you have Multiple Autoimmune Diseases. I have noticed that a lot people here have more than just Alopecia. I myself have Alopecia Areata, Crohn’s Disease, Psoriasis, and some form of Arthritis not yet diagnosed.

I love to run and be active. I am right now back at school doing my PhD . My life is typically very "go go go" and I do many things at once.... this I am afraid has ignited my alopeica. I think my Alopecia protected me from something worse, like a heart attack or a mental breakdown due to school and personal life stresses.

Hi! I wanted to say you look great!! What do you use for eyebrows? Your wigs look great too! I just got a custom made lace front and back wig that I couldn`t be happier with. It was pricey (also due to the length). I bought it at Order Quality Wigs. They have 2 locations, one on cote des neiges and the other on St. Charles in Pierrefonds. They told me it would lake 6-8 weeks but it took more like 14 or 15... so that was the only problem I had. But I really love the hair and I went swimming in the ocean with it!!! I wouldn`t recommend the glue (i got it just because I was going to the beach for a week) because the tape is sufficient and much less messy!!! :) Where do you get yours?

Hi Tam, in response to your thread about tape and grip material: you could sew silicone band in your wig. You can get it from the notions store - it's usually used for strapless bras or dresses. It's the same material that is used in Follea/Peggy Knight Gripper Caps.

Moroccan oil is safe on human hair. Personally, I prefer to condition my wig for a couple of hours after washing. That way the hair will feel soft but there will be no additional product in the hair. To tighten the knots after you have used conditioner, you can add vinegar to the last rinse.

Thanks for the note Tam :) Things were not good when I went back to work, but I was glad I went back for the kids. I had a horrible replacement and I felt really guilty for leaving my students with her. But we managed to get through the last month and the kids are officially on vacation. I have a few more days of work, then I will be too! Can't wait!

How are you?

Sounds like it is too strong...

It was uncomfortable. Sometimes it blistered. It certainly itched. But... my hair all grew back and it was a successful treatment for 15 years. Then, I became immune to it. Even the strongest dosage will not produce a reaction.

If it is sending you to the er... there is definitely a problem.

I had my eyebrows and top lid of eyeliner tattooed on. I love it! I haven't heard about DPCP, but I will say that my doctors as I grew up used me as a guinea pig for some very strange treatments...I was on rogaine when they were testing it, the pharmacy had to crush the pills and mix it with alcohol I was supposed to swab my head with this mixture and then coat it with vasoline every night...it was sooo gross, it was the last straw! Now I have a good wig that I only wear when I go out. My permanent makeup makes it so I don't look sickly first thing in the morning! We make adjustments and learn to live without parts of ourself that we thought would always be there. It is doable!

no I've had alopecia since I was 2. I did all the treatments as i was growing up. None of them were worth the time. I checked in with a Dermotologist about 10 years ago to find out if there was anything new out there, he told me if there was i'd hear about it in the news! LOL
