About Me:
I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areta April 2014, although I think it's Alopecia Totalis. It started with a quarter size round bald spot on the top of my head. It quickly grew along with new ones that would combine to make a huge bald area. Within 2 weeks, 97% of my hair was gone. It fell out like I was going through chemo, only I wasn't. I was confused about what was happening to me and to say the least...Devastated! My beautiful lush blonde hair that everyone always raved about was GONE! I went through all the stages-denial, anger, bargaining, depression (alot of depression), and now acceptance. Although I'm still pretty pissed about it. lol. But this disease has changed me and for the good. I didn't take care of myself. I was always stressed. It's taught me a valuable lesson, Take care of yourself. I truly believe my body had enough and this response from my immune system is a warning sign. I have since changed my eating habits, working out and changing my stressful lifestyle. Unfortunately, not all my hair has returned and I still get new spots but I do have growth and the amount falling out seems to be slowing down. I have tried steroid injections, topical solutions, oral steroids, rogaine, homemade topical treatments with essentials oils, all to no avail. I am now taking Methotrexate. Its been about 3 weeks so not sure if its working yet. At the beginning of this journey, I wore alot of bandanas but I got tired of people assuming I had cancer(thank god I don't). I started experimenting with wigs and now have several I love. I can finally feel pretty again and love that I can change my look. No more hours of styling my hair is a plus as well. I'd like to tell anyone who has this, your not alone and stay strong and positive because I believe this can make a world of difference. It's just hair and your beautiful!!! Thank you for reading my story.

WOW...your story resonates with me.  I went to a new hair stylist and 2 days later my son said "you have a bald spot" I sushed him. Then 3 days later I was in complete shock.

I went to my Dr. she thought the bald patch was fungus.  Treatment didn't work.  I went to my derm.  She said my hair was fried all over my head...breaking off.  Now..I am losing my hair rapidly despite topical and spironolactone and rogaine.

Every time I shower I cringe.  Any advice on wigs?  I bought two but oh my they bug me. Should I just shave my head or keep what hair I do have.  I will take any and all information you want to share. Thank you kindly
