About Me:
I've had alopecia since I've been 16. I shaved my head in May 2005. I go through stages of having eyelashes and then none. Eyebrows have grown back now. It's been 4 years that I've had them. I'm a speech language pathologist working in Texas.I like to work out and cook. I'm a nerd. I love to dance and play my guitar. I love my alopecia. Its a good story to tell other people about my fun adventures. I've had it for a few years now. I'm still the same person --fun, blessed, cheerful, peppy, outgoing and happy!
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia universalis
Are you age 18 or older?

A beautiful reminder

When someone is struggling accepting alopecia is it a sign of something deeper.

Was the hair just a cover up of not accepting who they were before the hair loss?

If someone can accept who they are WITH hair, then why not WITHOUT? -----questions questions!!!

Accepting who you are is just that --Acceptance!

That shouldn't change. Also, if you can't accept who you are, then DO something about it! Change you're ways so that you CAN accept yourself.

It is just me?

Whenever the topic of hair loss comes up, people always praise me and are astounded by my attitude about my alopecia.

Its as though they feel it is something so terrible and dramatic... and that the average person would be in crisis.

Am I wrong having a positive/nonchalant attitude toward alopecia?

I was 16 and popular in high school when my hair fell out. I didn't think it was a big deal back then and don't think its a big deal now. Many people told me "High school… Continue

Busy!

hey everyone! I haven't been on the site in a looooong time! I graduated from undergrad, moved back home, started another degree, and started working full time. Currently, I'm working full-time and going to school full-time. Its not an easy task! I find myself having little to no time for anything! I was recently accepted into a graduate program for speech pathology at Nazareth in Rochester, NY. Now, I'm trying to find time to make sure I find a place to live, get my course schedule straight,… Continue

Yaz and the issues

Posted on October 21, 2009 at 10:12pm 3 Comments

Hello everyone!

there have been recent studies showing that there are MANY side effects from the birth controls Yaz and Yasmin. I was on both of these pills. Yasmin - 6 years ago. and Yaz - a year ago. ...I had hair before I started the first round of pills 6 years ago. Now that i'm seeing all of the negative side effects from the pills on TV, i'm wondering if it could be a contributing factor for some women.

Anyone ever been on Yaz or Yasmin contraceptive and see anything… Continue

a friendly alopecia scenario

Posted on January 28, 2009 at 4:48pm 2 Comments

Hey all,

In my posts I wrote about how my hair is coming back. However, right now I'm as bald as can be! All of the hair growing progress is gone.

Its a relief to not have patches to shave off anymore. Its official... I enjoy being bald more so than having hair.

The Story:

Yesterday, my professor, fellow students, and I were waiting in the hallway for a classroom to open up. My professor made a comment about nicely groomed eyebrows. I explained that I drew them… Continue

Hi Stacie,

It would be wonderful to meet you in E. Greenbush for the the support group meeting on the 29th. You are very peppy in your chats and on your profiles. Saw that you are a St Rose Rosebud too. Bet you have many friends to visit in Albany.

Stay as positive as you are. It's great to witness your energy. Folks in a new support group would love to meet you.
