- I've had alopecia areata since 7 years of age appearing only in small patches- easily dealt with.
When I was 19 I lost two very large patches of hair and was put on oral prednisolone. I was up and down with dosages for about 2 years. Finally I was told my health could be seriously affected if I remained on prednisolone. When I stoped taking it, I lost all my hair within about 3 weeks, not long before my 21st birthday.
Now I have pretty much no hair, with a few small patches that grow here and there and no eyebrows- still considered alopecia areata.
I'm so lucky to have such a supportive family, who have all pitched in and I am now the owner of four fabulous wigs.
My friends are amazing and always stand by me.
In all honesty, life it better now that I'm not coping with trying to hide my patches- life is great :-)
I'm at university in my fourth year of a Bachelor of Environmental Science majoring in geology and geography and environmental sciences. I'm hoping to do honour next year in geology.
Music is my saving grace- both listening and playing.

She is such an inspiration as well. their wigs are amazing. i do so much in mine. its startin to look a little tacky atm.. but if you just wear it every day for like office and stuff it will last a few years. :)

- I haven't tried many at all. I just accepted that my hair was never gonna grow back. And i'm not a person to try funky natropath medicines. i did it once but refused to take it after the first week. it was horrible. the doctor put it down to stress when i was nine years old. i haven't been to a doctor in about 5 years.
