- Hello everyone, I have alopecia since my 21 years and since then I did numerous treatments, which have already lost count of how many were, without giving any results.
However the last treatment I did gave results in six months I was again with all the hair and beard, then the doctor thought best stop for three weeks, but to my despair after two weeks the hair and beard started to fall,then, (December 2004), that I decided not to continue the treatments. The times that followed were very difficult,with hair loss to increase in size, people stayed where they were looking at me, then I stopped leave at night and even go shopping, to prevent unknown people to see me,because in Portugal the Alopecia Areata is not disclose and perhaps because of that people were most surprised to look at me.Today, I feel much better with myself looking at me and see me bald.When I discovered this site, (which was by chance one day to do something about the search for Alopecia), I was quite pleased to know of its existence. I registered quickly and was very interested in knowing what other people thought and spoke about Alopecia, having added some American friends, (of which I am very grateful for me add), and finally I found a Portuguese women, which means a lot to me, because until now did not knew anybody Portuguese.

Apesar dos anos com AA, é sempre dificil enfrentar esta doença que nao mata mas moí... Sou de Leiria e actualmente sou seguida pelo serviço de dermatologia do Hospital daquela cidade, contudo os médicos não têm muitas altenativas para nos proporem... Tudo de bom p ti!

- Olá Paulo! Obrigada pelo comentário! Realmente não tem sido nada fácil, mas apesar de tudo acho q tenho reagido bem. Durante uns tempos andei completamente careca, foi uma libertação.
Conheço apenas mais 3 pessoas com alopecia T. em Lisboa.
Tens algum factor que possas associar ao aparecimento das 1as peladas? Existe em Portugal alguma associação de AA? Temos tão poucos apoios..
