Hi Nicolle your story is just like mine. Last year I had the same diagnosis. My hair fell out in a matter of 8 weeks! I have had no regrowth but feel much better with switching to amour thyroid. I keep hoping that remission will happen but.... I am just thankful I am feeling better

Hey Nicole,

I got my wig from Shuly's Wigs in Brooklyn. http://shulywigs.com/ They have a South American line and a European line. My wig is the South American line, it's at least $1,000 less than the European version and the hair is great. Its not coarse but at the same time it is thick and able to hold a curl. I do believe they ship orders if you call them. What makes my wig more natural for me is the "french silk" or "french part" Its the fake skin color scalp that can be parted in any direction. I have hair underneath my wig so the monofilament tops, just sheer top, didn't work because my dark hair showed through making it look like I had no scalp. I think it also is made to be less dense on top which helps with it looking natural. I don't have a lace front wig - I chose the side bang instead which I can sill bobby pin to the side and it looks natural. Hope this helps!

Well, I had alopecia areata for about ten years and it just kept getting worse and worse. Then finally all the hair everywhere fell out and I have never had any regrowth. It's really easier to have it all gone everywhere than chasing the patches. And I don't have to shave my legs!

Hello and welcome, Nicolle!
I know how hard hair loss is. I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has a lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf."
Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.
