- I am 27 years old and have been living with alopecia universallis for about 6 years now. I've posted a blog about some of my early experience with alopecia. Now I am happily living with alopecia. I always say, "alopecia has been both the worst and best thing that ever happened to me." I have learned so much about myself as a result of having alopecia and I truely believe it has made me a better person. I don't take anything for granted and I appreciate everything and everyone in my life. I am a very happy person who after having alopecia for about 6 years have completely adjusted to it. It was hard at first but now I am so happy with who I am with or with out hair!!

Where I get my hair

I have had many people ask me about my hair so again I thought I’d post a quick blog about my hair and where I get it…First off thank you for all the wonderful compliments . I got my hair from Madeline's Hair Replacement in Maine where I am from. The lighter hair is a custom piece I had done about two and a half years ago. One of the owners, Ken took a plaster mold of my head and then had a hair prosthetic custom made to match my scalp....it fits great! It is completely secure, I never worry… Continue
My false lashes...how I do it

I have had a few people ask me about my eyelashes....I am never embarassed to say they are not mine own....and always willing to give other advice on how to wear them! Let me know if you have additional questions but here is how I do it:
I use a product called fashion lashes from Ardell….I use the demi 120 they are full and dark but not to costumey. I would recommend starting to use the lashes (if possible) when you still have a few lashes so that you get the hang of where to put… Continue

My Tattoo Experience

Hi Everyone!
I have had many people ask how my tattoo procedure went so I just wanted to post a quick blog to let everyone know how it went! My tattoo experience was great!!!! Jeffery Segal, who did the tattoos was absolutely wonderful! He is so talented! There was very little pain involved because he uses Novocain to numb the area. I had both my eyebrows and lash line done. With the eyebrows there was no swelling or pain at all and the eyes were not swollen just a little puffy the… Continue

I am so excited!!! I am going to New York this Monday March 24,2008 to get my eyebrows and lashline tattooed on!! I have been living with Alopecia Universalis for 3 years and I am tired of penciling on my eyebrows and lashline every morning. This is going to be such a huge lifestyle change for me!! I plan on taking a ton of pictures so that I will be able to show you all exactley what the process is like for me! No one has said anything about alopecia, but what else can it be ? Anyway..... a wig is going to be needed in the near future. I wish I had the strength to just shave it off and get the upper hand, but Im terrified ! I love your wigs ! I was wondering if the company that you got yours from makes the lace front wigs ? I live in Arizona and the summers here are just awful ! Wish I could find a support group here in town. Anyway.... just want to say thank you for all your positive posts ! Im a complete stranger, yet you have given me hope ! Thank you !

I was reading through various old posts and discovered that you had both your eyeliner and eyebrows done by Jeff Segal. Jeff recently did my eyebrows (love them!), and I'm now considering getting the eyeliner done. I was wondering if you had him do the hairstroke eyelashes on your eyeliner or if you went with the straight, traditional liner. I'm not sure which would look best, and I'd love to hear about which type you chose and whether or not you were happy with it. Thanks for any insight you can provide! Your brows and eyeliner look great!
