Just wanted to thank all the people that I have been in contact with so far. Special thanks to Scott, Jeffrey, and Tom Fitzgerald for taking their time to answer my desperate emails.I am heading off to the canary islands for a week of golfing and relaxing. Maybe that will take my mind off this awful AA for a second.Haven't had the guts to tell people at work yet. Probably a bad thing right? Yesterday I noticed two eyelashes fell out. About Me:
This has just started on me a few weeks ago and it is literally destroying me and my everyday life. Some of my eyebrows are falling out. My left side of the forehead, a patch like and egg and in the nack of my neck, several spots. Noticing more spots all the time. Preparing for a life without hair.

2010-11-26: Keeps getting worse. Now my nosehairs are coming out too. Impossible to get a hold of doctors. How the fuck can I call them when Im working all the time and they have phone times for half an hour a day and 3 hour waiting lines. Insane shit. I read about tonsil removal helping someone. Can u request having them removed?
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?

Does anybody, like me, work in finance or sales sitting down in meetings with new prospect clients all day long? How are you coping? Are they even paying attention to you? I can't hide my hairloss much longer and I just dont know what the fuck to do. I can't afford not going to work. If I shave it, all the spots are gonna show even more. :-( If I don't I will eventually look completely redicolous. I have no idea what to do.

I'm doing good too.  The weather is really different depending on where you are in Canada.  I live in Ontario, approximately 50kms north of Toronto and today it is minus 15C and windy, which is about the norm for this time of year.  We usually end up with a few days every winter of bitterly cold minus 30 weather.  I can't believe how cold it feels on the bald head - I have to wear a toque any time I leave the house.

Hi Mikael! Yes, I've heard of other people regrowing hair after tonsillectomy. That's how I got convinced to do it. When dermatologist told me that I should go to surgery, I've asked for other opinions. The doctors I've talked to told me that they have seen cases when hair grew back after tonsillectomy, but no one can guarantee anything. I wasn't sure should I do it or not, because I didn't have any problems with tonsils. All of my tests were fine, except ASOT (antistreptolysin O titer) which was high. Eventually, as my alopecia progressed, I've decided to give it a try. Luckily, it helped. :)

Hi Mikael,
Try not to panic. You can make it through this!
As far as the eyebrows go, yes I am very satisfied with my tattoos. The hair is growing back but nothing is for certain with alopecia. I got mine tattood while I still had some hair plus a pic so the artist could have an outline.
If you do consider this route be very particular who you choose as you dont want them messed up.

Hope this helps.

Hey man... I guess for now it is localized to face and legs, but perfect circles of hair loss on my brows did freak me out. No scalp or eyelash loss which is weird eh. (Knock on wood). I have a mild case of alopecia areata so it's not that bad, but it is annoying to say the least. Who knows what the hell triggered it. My dermatologist gave me some steroid cream that seems to stopping the shedding and I do have regrowth. The difficult part is accepting that you may lose all your hair. With or without hair you're the same person, just a more pissed off one for now which is understandable. Seems like most folks here shave their hair off and appear to be liberated by the action. Good luck mate. Tell your family and good friends. They're more understanding than you think and it helps to talk to people about it.

Hey Mikael... The initial shock of what the hell is happening and then why me turns your world upside down. It's good that you found this site for support. There are a lot of great folks here. Drop me message if you need to vent. I don't think removing the tonsils will do anything at all besides get you ice cream after the surgery, but why not go get some ice cream anyways. It will make you feel better.

Hi Makael,
Sorry you are going through this.
I was without hair for about 3 years. It is now coming back at about 70-80%. Actually more of a pain now then with no hair....Grrrr
I never heard anything about a tonsilectomy and alopecia.
Stay Strong!

Hey Mikael.
I'm losing body hair too. I chuckle when I think back to the time that I was blaming our pet dog for rubbing up against the towels in the bathroom and leaving his black hair on it :)
I doing okay. I can live with being bald. It's kinda cool looking, but I'd rather have a hair though. It's the eyebrows and eyelashes that suck. No other way to put it. My wife is very supportive - she's actually survived breast cancer and did lose her hair. She's totally healthy now, but understands about the 'shock' of losing hair. I'm 42 yrs. My two daughters (9 and7) don't really understand - they think I've shaved my head by choice :) Which is fine.
The dermatologist ended up being a bit of a let down. Told me what I already knew.
How are you holding up? Kids?

Have a good one!
BTW - Hockey fan?
