Wig from China

Started this discussion. Last reply by Lexi Jun 26, 2013. 3 Replies

Has anyone every purchased a wig from China? I won one on Ebay and just wondered if I was throwing $10 away--that was the price of the wig and it was free shipping.Continue

About Me:
My hair really started to thin when my late husband was taking chemo. He would joke that he was taking chemo and my hair was falling out. I should have gotten a wig probably a year before I did because I noticed when people were talking to me they weren't looking in my eyes, but at my hair. One of the doctors I was seeing really kept staring at my scalp. My primary dr. told me his wife's hair was thinning too and she was taking Rogaine. I did read about this, but noticed it had to be applied twice a day, it was expensive, plus I didn't have time for this. I worked at the hospital from 4 - 12:30 a.m. When my husband was taking chemo, I would dress in my scrubs, take him to chemo and be there at 8:00 a.m., left around 5:00 p.m. to take him home and get him settled in, and then I would head right back down to the hospital to work 8 hrs. which I had to make up that extra hr. where I came in late. I'm certainly not blaming my husband for my hair loss, but I think it was just too much stress. When I bought my first wig, he said it was the best investment I had ever made.

Wigs, wigs, wigs

Can anyone out there recommend a short natural synthetic wig that has a monofilament top? If you are like me, you have probably purchased more wigs that you don't like than those that you do. I am just beside myself as to shopping online and trying to decide what would work best for me. I have some wigs that I have never worn that I would be more than willing to sell at a very low price if anybody would be interested in buying. Just let me know.

Do you shave your head or have someone do it for you?

Just wondering.....does anyone out there shave their own head or do you pay someone to shave it? If you do shave, do you use a razor or a barber set of clippers?

Hello, I shaved my head but not completely. I went to a salon and had a lady do it for me because my husband did not want to risk messing it up since I was not sure if I was going to need to shave it completely smooth or just buzz it real short. Well i decided to start with just buzzing it real short since I had not developed any completely bald spots yet. My hair was just grossly thin on top. Once the hair stylist buzzed it using a level 3 I decided to just leave it like that. I am really happy with the outcome, I can barely tell at this point that there was every a problem although I can still tell that my hair is not proportioned evenly over all of my head especially in the back and the top. I do not wear a wig and probably will not.

Hi Ktownnana, thanks for responding to my friend request. No the lady that owns Belladonna's did not tell me about the Biotin. I wish you luck with it, let me know if it works. I love Rene of Paris wigs too. I'll tell you a secret, you can get their monofiliment ones for a very reasonable price at Lori'swigsite.com. You have to put it in your cart to get the actual price. The colors come in the same as Noriko. So if you have a color in Noriko, you can get it in their monofilament ones too. I love and wear Summer in Harvest Gold. I get many compliments about it looking natural. It is kind of long, so I took it to Erika at Untangled down in the same shopping center as Belladonnas and she custom cut it to fit my face. I do believe I saw you in Belladonn's and I remember thinking how attractive your wig is.

Hi-
I apologize for the delay in responding but was visiting relatives in Brainerd, MN. It does sound like we have much in common with our loss of a husband, our age, and my nephew living in Moore, SC, maybe not too close but at least in the Carolinas:). You are quite attractive with a very flattering hair piece! My husband was really a huge reason that being AU was easy, although I've never been the type to hide the disease; that seemed too exhausting (with the exception of children who are always a challenge). It sounds like you are finding some good things in life again which is such a blessing. Please stay in touch; I'd like to hear more about your situation. Hugs, Susan

I bought it in two different colors - but I don't remember what they were. I'll check the boxes and get back with you.

Hi. The wig I am wearing is Madison Gradient by Noriko. It was the first time I went so straight and so blond. But, I loved it! I've purchased this wig three times, and that is unusual because usually I like to mix it up. Other wigs I've had have been Tia - Noriko, Sammy - Noriko, Cruz - ??? (got it early on at a wig shop) Sonic -??? (also bought at a wig shop). I also had an inexpensive Beverly Johnson wig, but I don't remember the name. It is the short, dark on in my photos. I think that ethnic wigs have the cutest short styles, but usually the colors are too dark for me. :-( I am ALWAYS shopping online for new wigs. I'm very used to exchanging wigs in the mail. Wigs.com has a pretty good policy. I've exchanged so many wigs, I have my own personal customer rep! (Heather) I would like to get something a little more edgy, but I'm getting to the age where I have to be careful with that. In fact, some of the styles I thought looked good 5 years ago, seem to look totally different to me now. But, gosh, if there is one place a gal ought to be able to experiment with impugnity, it's with her wigs. I think it is so great to see actual people on this site wearing the wigs I've seen online. It really gives a better idea of the cut and style. Thanks.
