- My daughter is now 8. She had her first bald spot show up when she was 5 but didn't have significant loss until her grandfather passed away. She then lost hair pretty consistently for about 8 months. She's now got a few patches of hair left which we typically keep shaved.

MOM STUFF
Jessica's alopecia has progressed quite a bit. We actually shaved what little was left of her hair about 2 weeks ago. Hats, wigs and scarves look so much better now that there aren't all of these sad whispy hairs hanging out. It was hard for her to let those last strands go but she is such a trooper. It's only been 2 weeks but already the few spots she has are growing so fast it's crazy. I wish my own hair grew that quickly.
I was wondering if anyone could discribe what regrowth looks like. Jessica hasn't ever had any but she does have a few places where there are fine white baby hairs that I don't remember seeing before. There aren't alot I just want to know what to expect.
Has anyone had any experience with Locks of Love? CURIOUS!
Also, Any favorite wig stores?

I'm so proud of my Jessica and how well she is handling loosing her hair. I'm thankful that the process has been slow (allowing her time to slowly adjust), that she has this place to come to see photos of beautiful people so she isn't feeling so alone, and that she's completely healthy! As problems go in this world I'll take ALOPECIA any day of the year.

Lisa F and Chloe said… - Thanks for the well wishes and encouragement. Chloe has 9 bald patches, but so far we have been able to hide them. She has been very positive, but I worry what will come if we are no longer able to hide it. I am very thankful she is healthy, but it still is hard to deal with the not knowing if or when it will get worse. I show Chloe the smiling faces from all the kids on this site and it is so uplifting. I don't know much about ALOPECIAPALOOSA but I would love to have Chloe meet other kids and adults who know what she is feeling. I will help in any way.

The dinner in August is adults only, but please stop by Chico's at Foothill Village in Salt Lake City so I can meet Jessica on Saturday August 15th. She can be my helper if you have time.
About the fine white hairs...they are common with alopecia. I get a few white eyebrow hair sometimes.
