- Well, Hello there. I like people to call me Kay but the given name is Kayla. I'm 18.
Story:
My hair loss started when I was 10 and for 4 or 5 years my mother didn't really listen. She said it was because I was washing my hair too much but then finally when other people started noticing she brought me to the derm. He wasn't nice and really didn't seem to be into his job but he said he thought I had a female pattern hairloss, wasn't completely sure about it because of my thyroid problems. He made me start on rogaine. Rogaine just made more of my hair fall out and I haven't gone back to see him. Just recently I have discovered that's it hereditary on my dad's side. Just grand. The hair loss made my life a bit of a hell, the process of doing my hair everyday is long and depressing and some days I decide not to go out. It's hard to act as if it doesn't bother me and I find it hard to actually talk about it to anyone I know that's close to me, but I'm slowly getting better. I'm beginning to walk the Road of Acceptance =). My mother used to live in denial but now she's becoming sort of better.
Although it's been tough, you know, hairloss isn't who I am, besides all that I can be a pretty fun person, I love to read and I love music. I like painting and drawing. I like to laugh. I enjoy video games too. I just graduated and now soon in August I'll be moving to Beverly for college. =) Montserrat College of Art, Class 2015! I'm really nervous but I'm excited for the new beginning. There's a lot more so talk to me. I guess I've needed to let it out even if it's just typed words I hope I can find people on here that can help me and I'll do my best to help others.

So, just when I think my mother is starting to be supportive (She took me to a hair supply shop to try on a few wigs, they didn't have a lot and I was embarrassed but she was actually sweet enough to say she'd try some on with me if I didn't feel comfortable doing it alone, but what was great about this is I grew some balls and just told the shop owner that I suffered from hair loss (she wasn't really a warm person but still nice enough to help me) and wanted to try some wigs on.
