Hey Katie!

I love your photos! I am so glad I can go swimming, go down water slides, ride a roller coaster and wash my hair WITH IT ON ME. I wear a vacuum piece and I LOVE it. I only wish I would have had it when I was a teenager. Those years were very hard for me.

I have worn my vacuum piece since 1989.

I will be in Michigan next month!!

Thanks Katie,
Good on you. I am so glad that you are doing fabulous. Hope you enjoy your weekend with your sister. I am very close to my sister. My two daughters are very close too. It is a nice thing to have- a good relationship with your sister.
Yes high school is only a short time of your life. If people can't accept you for who you are then they are not worth your time. It is amazing how different people deal with things in different ways and how some of us can accept situations and change easily and some of us find it very hard and have a hard time of it. So you should be very proud of yourself. You have learnt the secret to being happy in yourself. Even people that don't have a condition like alopecia haven't learnt what you obviously have. People who don't treat you right or don't accept you for who you are- they don't matter!
So feel good about yourself. You are one smart cookie.
I hope Jon learns that lesson as well.
Take care now

Hi Katie
Welcome to Alopecia World. I read your comment on Teenagers with Alopecia. Glad to hear that you are coping well with AA. You have a good attitude towards it.
I love your photos - looks like you have some very supportive friends.
My son Jon, 13, has had Alopecia since he was 6. He has just started developing Universalis. He had a hard time accepting the onset of Universalis but I think he is beginning to get used to it now.
How are you at the moment?
