About Me:
I am the big sister of a little alopecian! I am a 27 year old lawyer and student.

Over my life I have experienced some hair loss in patches and hair thinning, but have not been diagnosed with alopecia, and have not experienced any hair loss for three years.

I would like to learn about ways to help and support people with AA (as my sister has) learn to live with hair loss, especially the unpredictability of the condition. I like to think of ways to relieve some of the stressors in my sister's life and help her to be happy.

I completely believe life is there to be lived bravely, completely and with hope no matter what - with hair or without it!
Do you have alopecia?
I do not have alopecia
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes

Non Alopecian Thoughts

Sorry about the scattered nature of this (it's late and I'm not really sure why I'm still awake). I've had some thoughts over the past few days regarding supporting my sister with alopecia.

At times my sister is sure she is going to go completely bald. I say to her that even though it definitely could happen - she could go bald - there is also the chance that she will not. If she does, we'll get her a great wig - if that's what she wants. It's all about her. She doesn't have to… Continue

Hi Jols,

the Open Day is on October 11th and they usually have it in Carlton but they have not yet confirm the venue for this year so I will let you know when I find out.

It is great and you get to meet all people for all age groups that have alopecia and their families. The talk about research, wigs, hair scarfs, makeup and basically everything that has to do with alopecia.

I went there last year and it helped me cope a lot better and basically get on with life.

How old is your sister and how is doing with the condition?

catch you later
Karen

You are wonderful to be supportive of your little sis.
One thing you might want to do is get her my book, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It's full of stories from a lot of other women and girls with aa in all its forms. It's a fun read, too. You can find out more about it on my page and click the link at the bottom to get it, or go on Amazon.com. I think you both would like it!
Anyway, I wanted to stop by and say hello!
